Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.-  Justice minister Francisco Dominguez and Police Chief Jose Polanco launched an investigation yesterday into the death of German national died Pierter Dimitri and the discovery of an arsenal in a house and visited the site where the foreigner and three agents were injured.

During the raids in sector La Mulata III, in Sosua several foreigners were arrested, including a woman accused of injuring second lieutenant Alejandro Toribio, and the corporals Junior Antonio Zapata and Jose Antonio Ramirez, who are not in serious condition.

"When the investigations of this case advances we will proceed to issue a report with the actual circumstances surrounding this and the discovery of these weapons," Dominguez said.

Polanco said the foreigners seemed to be selling illegal weapons, adding that the cache included two grenades, several M16 assault rifles, an armored SUV and an armored ambulance, shotguns, crossbows and several buckets of ammunition.

Further evidence of the sad state of security in our country, and how dysfunctional our whole system, top down really is.

All of those highly paid and totally useless generals, ministers, deputies and senators, not to mention the front page picture-loving higher government officials, and we can't even keep foreign criminals in check-even when they so blatantly flaunt their crime.

This is a failure of such far-reaching significance that some heads must roll, some notables fired.

Shameful. Yes, very shameful indeed.

I am in Sosua and any one criticizing the police, government or security are way off base. the only criticism the police should have is not being prepared and armed enough to protect their own. Where it happened was in a VERY secure development. i was just looking at houses on that hill in Mulatta 2 this weekend. There is no security at all. Usually whether a secure neighborhood or not, I being canadian, can pull up to security and get let in any development by saying i am looking at a house, although security is more diligent on locals. When I pulled up to Mulatta 3, i wasn't allowed entrance and the gate was the most fortified entrance gate at any neighborhood I have seen here in 6 months. When I saw it, I decided not to get a place on that hill figuring if they needed to be that secure, crime must be bad/ la Mulatta 3 was known locally as being occupied by a satanic cult. When police got word of illegal activity, they went in and busted them. Sounds like a job well done.

There is no way that all of those weapons are getting turned into some government armory. SUV's paid for by the taxpayers are going to have 1 of these in every backseat. Of course there will only be 1 magazine with each weapon and not very much ammunition, because that's the standard in DR. Chicas not married to the cops will be decorating them with little gold sequins.

Did you think this was a private letter, dandelion? Specifically what true information did you just contribute? Have you given the police or any other government official all of this information you as the rest of us don't? Doesn't your screen name actually translate to "blah blah blah"?
