Santo Domingo.- The country’s entire electricity system underwent an outage early Thursday, when Hurricane Sandy’s downpours and strong winds buffeted the Caribbean coastline.
In a statement via Twitter, the State-owned Electricl Utility (CDEEE) said the gusts of wind and thunderstorms have caused damages nationwide.
"The weather conditions have prevented solving the damages sustained since yesterday, same will occur today until the weather improves," the utility said.

This is much more expensive initially, but cheaper in the long-run, especially in the the Klepto Republic where there is so much theft of cable, towers and the electricity itself. Also underground is more aesthetically pleasing to foreigners.
In Australia, Bogans and Ockers have "barbies". The rest of us have barbeques.
