Santo Domingo.- Three flights were canceled Thursday at Higuero International Airport (AILI) north of the capital, as Hurricane Sandy’s downpours and winds were felt across the country.

The announcement comes near noon Thursday as Hurricane Sandy’s downpours and winds died down.

Dominican Airports Management Company (Aerodom) PR director Yolanda Mañan said the airlines Mass, which flies to Haiti; Air Century, which flies to Punta Cana, and TortugAir, which also flies to Haiti, suspended operations.

In Las Americas International Airport (AILA) meanwhile, operations remain normal.

This is very misleading as HURRICANE SANDY has not hit this country.
