The last time I went to D.R. I helped a haitian lady with a dominican passport to fill the imigration form.Thousand of haitians in the same way...
I still feell sorry for those haitians born in D.R. but some few are paying for the mistakes of a large part of haitians in D.R.

We're only doing what it says in the constitution. Why doesn't Haiti accept them as Haitians? If American parents give birth abroad the child has American citizenship. The population density in Haiti is such that only a mass exodus from the country will give it a chance
to develope. As neighbors DR must help with this exodus. I said help, not take it ALL upon ourselves.

When other nations really start helping in this manner, then DR can consider to be magnanimous with the cane-cutter's descendants.

In the wake of the massive earthquake that tore an already-troubled Haiti apart in 2010, Wyclef Jean—one of the island’s most successful sons—sprang into action to assist via his Yele Haiti charity.
But what we learned later was that the charity was run disastrously, and was the subject of a huge investigation regarding misuse of donated funds.
According to The New York Times, Yele Haiti essentially (and quietly) shut down last month, leaving a parade of upset creditors and angry would-be recipients in its wake.
The numbers reveal some pretty scathing stuff. Yele Haiti collected over $16 million in donations following the series of earthquakes the decimated the island’s capital city of Port-Au-Prince and ripped much of its already-tenuous infrastructure to shreds.

Both Madonna and Angelina Jolie have tried to help some of the unfortunate victims of the Haiti earthquake in 2010 by taking them into their own families through the adoption process.
Madonna's application has been flatly refused, whilst Jolie's is still undergoing review, and looks to be heading the same way.
This has led the two fantastically wealthy women to take the unusual step of purchasing the country.
"Mrs Jolie and Miss Ciccone have pooled some of their vast fortunes to mount an economic takeover of Haiti," said lawyer for the pair, Hans Oberfisst. "Due to the rundown nature of the infrastructure and the poor care of the country by its previous owner, they hope to be able to knock down the asking price of fifty billion US Dollars to fifty million. If more is needed, Oprah Winfrey has indicated she is willing to join the coalition."
"Martelly is been given our initial offer," said Oberfisst. "The ball is in his court for now."
Should the buy-out be successful, it would see Jolie and Madonna (and possibly Winfrey) not only take over the running of the country, but they would instantly be appointed Mother to Orphaned Children in the nation. They also intend on changing the national anthem to Like a Virgin and rename the country Jolliemad.
Should the buyout be unsuccessful, two Nigerian business men have indicated that the pair could purchase Nigeria instead.

Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti charity is kaput, went out in a blaze of impropriety
In the wake of the massive earthquake that tore an already-troubled Haiti apart in 2010, Wyclef Jean—one of the island’s most successful sons—sprang into action to assist via his Yele Haiti charity.
But what we learned later was that the charity was run disastrously, and was the subject of a huge investigation regarding misuse of donated funds.
According to The New York Times, Yele Haiti essentially (and quietly) shut down last month, leaving a parade of upset creditors and angry would-be recipients in its wake.
The numbers reveal some pretty scathing stuff. Yele Haiti collected over $16 million in donations following the series of earthquakes the decimated the island’s capital city of Port-Au-Prince and ripped much of its already-tenuous infrastructure to shreds.
The avalanche of wasted donations is pretty staggering, with nearly half of the money Yele brought in going to internal expenses. Conversely, as the Times points out, Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization only spends 10 percent of its intake on operational needs, including office-related charges and travel. (So if you want to contribute to the still-ongoing relief effort in Haiti, lay your money with Penn.)
It was merely the latest in a string of problematic economic decisions for the foundation. Since Yele was founded in 2004, the group spent $600,000 on a now-abandoned headquarters, $24,000 on a chauffeur for Clef, and a $100,000 payout to Jean himself to perform at a fundraising event in Monaco. Yele even once spent $30,763 to fly Lindsay Lohan on a private jet from New Jersey to Chicago for an event that only raised $66,000.
