The United States is mostly on the demand side, competing with China, India, Russia, Europe and others for a very limited resource, controlled by a handful of countries that are looking for their best interest and not US. I am a thinking/rational conservative and am not an Obama-leaning person by any stretch of the imagination. I cannot consider the man because, at the personal financial level, he cost me several hundred thousand $ when he picked and chose whom to save in the Auto Industry. I am a professional in research and development and he sacrificed me in favor of the UAW. My pension got jettisoned, while that of the UAW got preserved, to secure some votes. His choice, and I respect it; however, process was self-serving and undemocratic and, for that, I will not vote for him.

I do give him credit for fact that the Dow Jones was hovering at about 8000 in 2008, in waning days of Bush administration; today, it is above13000.

What Obama did was secure the development of local economies and you have to be blind not to see that this saved America... Everything you wrote is pretty debatable...but what I wanted to hear (read) was what's the GOP plan for the lower and middle class? In other words, what are the concrete plans/policies from Candidate Mitt Romney that will address the allegedly shortcomings of the present administrations?

Rising wages, incomes, prosperity, and living standards do not result from increased government spending, increased deficits and government debt, increased Fed money creation, greater income and wealth redistribution, or any other fever swamp of Obamanomics.

The only thing that I know is that for the FIRST TIME I ain't suporting a democrat candidate..

And he has addressed the big issue of illegal inmigration by pushing for a reform but in the mean time enforcing the rules by deporting all those who brake the law...

Victor never mentions President Obama passing the DREAM ACT. Why ? I see with greatest sadness a disengaged voters pool which, by dereliction of duty, has relinquished its right to select our president to the talking heads and PAC's.

PAC's, in fact, may be the worst thing ever to have happened to our political process. They follow no rules and can lie and exaggerate to no end. They are like gangsters, bullying a willing voter population into submission. Too bad that to most voters the election is an inconvenience which often interferes with their affinity for sports and everything else that's meaningless.

I really have to wonder about Mr. Romney and his pledge to dramatically reduce cost of gas, create jobs, reduce taxes, etc., etc. This sounds to me like an interfering government, which is contrary to conservative thinking. Doesn't he understand that the president is just "commander-in-chief of army and navy"? Also, that only congress can write laws? He could veto, but congress could always override.

While I disagree with some of President Obama's policies at the personal level, I have to agree with your views above, and the fact that president Obama set an example and a high bar for many of us with similar backgrounds to emulate.

I'll be honest with you....singularly, dominicans in the US see themselves as being part of the aryan race, even when their skin tone and facial features betray them. Look, I do not care how white you are-real or otherwise. Here in the US, the minute someone establishes you are from DR you are automatically black or an irrelevant minority at best. I know, for in my profession I fight that reality every single day, no matter the fact that I hold more than 40 US patents and am recognized as a leader in a highly technical field and am in The Innovation Hall of Fame. Bush was president then. that is when foreclosures started to go through the roof. do you know what that means? that means people began to lose COLLATERAL. because of declining real wealth, since the days of Ronald Ray Gun, in order to maintain steady state consumption levels, people in the US live on credit. their house is their only collateral, in most cases. they refinance based on equity positions, and use that money to support their lifestyle. they lose their homes, they cannot borrow money. their company loses money, they lose their jobs. only the dumbest of people cannot see that.

millions of homes have been foreclosed upon since 2007. that means millions of people have either become homeless, and indigent. that means many more people have no means of livelihood. which means they have no food and shelter. as more houses are foreclosed upon, the welfare rolls have to expand. it is elementary mathematics. so, what is the government to do? let them starve? do you understand the social consequences of leaving people to face potential death from hunger? would you like to live in a society where millions of people have no food? some might decide that they would rather rob you, than to let their children die. the other important thing is that the USA is a signatory to the UN Charter on Human Rights. it is bound , by duty, to take all possible steps to protect its population from starvation, and other undesirable outcomes. Banks will still make up money (millions of dollars or euros) thanks to this Dodd Franck act ,via the OTC Clearing Broker new activity,after each trade within the OTC Derivatives market, a Bank A will see his positions maintained and monitered by a a Bank B ( Clearing Broker) through a clearing house (meaning no more fictious trades). Bank B will charge Bank A for this service and with all the volumes.
