Super,

Some of us still feel your pain; let's hope that these dirt bags don't walk out in couple of months.

I will not relevate our story again as it was already in the Dominican News a couple of months ago.
The most disturbing however was that our two childern of 8 and 10 yrs old had to withness our robbery at gunpoint from the backseat of our car.
No sorry for these scumbags and lock them up for long time. 20yrs or more will do!!
B.T.W these guys are not the ones that robbed us near Villa Altagracia.

Big deal arrest a few and others will take their place. We have no real justice system in this country because of the rampant corruption.Safety is not a concern of our government.

How many thousands of dollars of tourism promotion does such an event wipe out? If these travel warnings become mandatory at every travel agent, what then?

Roystone.
You just hit the jackpot. It are not only the Americans. Also the Netherlands reviewed their travel advise to the Dominican Republic and came to the conclusion to revise it by advising tourits not to travel at night whatsoever and thus the tourists will think twice before booking a vacation
These robberies are negatively impact the tourist industry and DR income.
It is strange that the tourist industry still did not stand up to the government to do something positive towards negative travel advices.

The US should put a travel ban in place for 60 days. That would make govt put a stop to all criminal activity in tourism areas. As for the local population areas, get a weapon and have neighborhood justice.

NYGuy35,
Much of the local population already has weapons - that's part of the problem. Dominican tourism is doomed. America's relationship with Cuba is thawing. If they get their act together, American tourists will go there instead. its closer hence cheaper to fly there too.

I drive this road monthly and I never feel safe. Often my nights are in Boca Chica...and virtually every night I stay there I hear gun shorts close enough that I wonder if the guards guarding this place are dead!. There are certain things I will never understand about this country! Their penchant for violence is first...and the way they drive...OYE VEY!!! (apologies to those that know how to actually spell this saying!)

That's why DK needs to "tone it down"......people with $$$ can hurt other people and they DO NOT HAVE to pull the trigger.
