Santo Domingo.- Investigative journalist and television producer Nuria Piera has become the first Dominican to receive the Rotary international’s highest honor, according to a statement from the Rotary Host Club of America, in New York.
“For an investigative journalism always denouncing the problems of the needy, helping through her formidable and unrivaled programs, and sometimes risking her life in defense of truth and humanity... because humanity is her business and gives of herself before thinking of herself,” the statement said.
It said that those are the values ??which Rotary International has hearalded and supported for 110 years.
In the proclamation, the global organization notes that Piera’s father was murdered “for his work as a great journalist,” for which the tribute serves as a paradigm for many communications professionals.

Amazingly the crooks that form our government don't have the intelligence necessary to cover their crimes and yet there are just one or two journalists investigating them. Are all the others paid for their silence?

Let me explain the game that is played in my country. Most of the Journalits in DR are partisan mostly either PLDeista or PRDEISTA. The independent from political party are a minority. For example Nuria is an independent journalist but what distinguish her from the rest is that she has been doing this for more than 25 years up front and personal regardless of the party in power. I remember her show when I used to live in DR it was called "Nuria en el 9." They are other serious journalists that are moves by their agenda like the Communist Marino Zapete.

Like her late father, Nuria is the epitome of responsible journalism. She has been instrumental in exposing hundreds of dishonest Dominican politicians (Felix Bautista amongst others). Though rare, her findings have lead the irresponsible Dominican prosecutors to unveil many government officials. Nuria, we will pay you a visit again in a couple of weeks.

After Trujillo was dead, the criminal father of Nuria was ambushed, and was killed by relatives of the same people he send to death and justice was done
Her techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism. By extension, the term yellow journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.
