Local woman files assault charges against Haitian diplomat

SANTIAGO.- The Dominican Martha Aquino, who works for Haiti’s General Consulate in the country’s second biggest city, filed aggravated assault against Litherson Laguerre, Haiti’s vice consul in Dominican Republic.

Aquino, head of the consulate’s Legal Affairs dept., said she filed the complaint after the alleged attacked physically and verbally abused her and threatened to kill last Thursday.

She said Laguerre requested a meeting and when they were together, grabbed her left arm, shouting that he was going to get her out of the embassy because he couldn’t let allow one more Dominican to work there, and struck her on the face, shoved her against a wall, dislocating her left shoulder.

Aquino requested that Dominican authorities investigate her complaint.
