Samana, DR.– President Leonel Fernandez inaugurated two
housing projects in Samana and Maria Trinidad Sanchez provinces with
a total investment of approximately RD$124 million.
The projects, Invi-Villa Progreso in Samana and Invi-Villa
Progreso El Factor in Maria Trinidad Sanchez, were built by the National
Housing Institute (INVI), each consists of 64 residential units.
According to INVI director Alma Fernandez, the government has invested nearly US$11.7 million in the housing sector in the Samana region. The homes are intended for low-income families and those living at
risk, and are the first stage of a nationwide housing programme by INVI.
Funds for the project came from an agreement between the Dominican
Republic and the Caracas-based CAF Development Bank of Latin America.

The Samana Peninsula is one of the best tourism areas if the Dominican Republic.
Why is the government subsidizing the population explosion of these uneducatable environmental vandals and thieves there?
The tolls on the beautiful new road are very high, but the locals pay nothing and mosquitobikes, the main hazard, are exempt.
I am told that these slum-dwellers do not stay in the new housing anyway, but rent them out or sell them and move back into the slums wit the money, to continue breeding, rubbishing and stealing.
Give them free yola rides instead.

We go to the other side to take merchandise, not to look for them. The other day a problem occurred in Fond Parisién with one injured by gunshot, the trucks with their tires removed, and that kind of thing,” said the trucker Francisco Tejada to the press.
The truck and bus drivers say they feel alone, looking for bullets and death and that the Dominican authorities aren’t dealing with the situation.
“We sent buses over there and their front tires were exploded, this situation is going to be solved one way or another,” said Maximo Garcia, owner of several buses, who added that no one is safe from being attacked. “The fact is that nothing is certain in Mal Paso since the situation considerably affects the bi-national market, halting business in the entire Independence province adjacent zones.”

Lots of Nonsense posts ; one part of the UK was very violent post war ; Glasgow. The UK built up to 400,000 houses a year, mainly public, in the post war period to low but adequate standards. Crime subsides when people have other avenues ; including getting paid a small wage for mass construction of housing. Now Glasgow a few years back celebrated ,European City of Cluture, has thriving schools, universities etc. and has many research centres.
Let people work for a small wage; the US example of food stamps for all does not work. Consult communities regarding the houses they need and the process of constructing houses helps turn non-achievers into achievers.

That's right, ABC. Let the homeless and/or the very poor, be hired to construct their own homes.
They can be paid a stipend, learn the trade and be rewarded for their efforts.
Talk about a win-win situation! Thanks for the in-put!.

This was what effectively happened in post war UK. Training courses were free and when graduated wages were low - no car, no motorcycle, subsidised bread on ration for years, coal for heating rationed, for a period little foreign ptravel, few TV,s, In the immediate post war period utlity furniture.
Still huts were replaced by houses - many still occupied today. Tenaments in Glasgow ; single small rooms with a family in occupation replaced by modern apartments.

“Alienation is the precise and correctly applied word for describing the major social problem in Britain today. People feel alienated by society. In some intellectual circles it is treated almost as a new phenomenon. It has, however, been with us for years. What I believe is true is that today it is more widespread, more pervasive than ever before. Let me right at the outset define what I mean by alienation. It is the cry of men who feel themselves the victims of blind economic forces beyond their control. It's the frustration of ordinary people excluded from the processes of decision-making. The feeling of despair and hopelessness that pervades people who feel with justification that they have no real say in shaping or determining their own destinies.

Many may not have rationalised it. May not even understand, may not be able to articulate it. But they feel it. It therefore conditions and colours their social attitudes. Alienation expresses itself in different ways in different people. It is to be found in what our courts often describe as the criminal antisocial behaviour of a section of the community. It is expressed by those young people who want to opt out of society, by drop-outs, the so-called maladjusted, those who seek to escape permanently from the reality of society through intoxicants and narcotics. Of course, it would be wrong to say it was the sole reason for these things. But it is a much greater factor in all of them than is generally recognised.

Society and its prevailing sense of values leads to another form of alienation. It alienates some from humanity. It partially de-humanises some people, makes them insensitive, ruthless in their handling of fellow human beings, self-centred and grasping. The irony is, they are often considered normal and well-adjusted. It is my sincere contention that anyone who can be totally adjusted to our society is in greater need of psychiatric analysis and treatment than anyone else. They remind me of the character in the novel, Catch 22, the father of Major Major. He was a farmer in the American Mid-West. He hated suggestions for things like medi-care, social services, unemployment benefits or civil rights. He was, however, an enthusiast for the agricultural policies that paid farmers for not bringing their fields under cultivation. From the money he got for not growing alfalfa he bought more land in order not to grow alfalfa. He became rich.

Pilgrims came from all over the state to sit at his feet and learn how to be a successful non-grower of alfalfa. His philosophy was simple. The poor didn't work hard enough and so they were poor. He believed that the good Lord gave him two strong hands to grab as much as he could for himself. He is a comic figure. But think – have you not met his like here in Britain? Here in Scotland? I have.
