Santo Domingo.- Just one day after getting the endorsement of the senator, who’s been linked to several scandals of corruption in public office, opposition PRD party presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía on Wednesday also received the support of two other senior leaders of that organization, both recently fired.

Héctor Rodriguez Pimentel, accused of being “pathologically corrupt” by Anticorruption Department director Otoniel Bonilla and fired by president Leonel Fernandez from the post as head of the Agrarian Reform Agency in December, formalized his support for Mejía, in a rally with dozens of members of the ex official’s movement called Balaguer Current.

Also supporting the PRD candidacy is Angel Lockward, linked to the scandal of cooking gas subsidies during Mejia’s Presidency (2000-2004), and recently to the purchase of buses in Colombia, where he was fired as Ambassador.

Rodriguez and Lockward become the most recent senior politicos linked to scandals to support Mejía’s bid, after Altagracia province senator Amable Aristy announced his endorsement on Tuesday.

Lo lamento mucho pero la realidad es que Hipolito "el burro" Mejia no está capacitado para ser presidente.

Even to be a crook, you have to sound smart, and this dude doesn't even have clue.

Dread, absolutely right.

Hipoloco "el burro" is acquiring quite a zoo of vultures, just salivating for another chance at devouring the public funds. These two are not only pathologically corrupt, but corrupt to the core.

In a post of mine in another article was censored, I mentioned Hippo and Aristy as "Birds of a feather flock together". Now DT painting the politicos more or less the same as I did in the other article, DT uses the word "Dubious" to label them. It also refered in this article to the " senator, who’s been linked to several scandals of corruption" without naming him. Yet we all know it is Amable Aristy.

The one's who should be censored are the politicians who abuse the public faith.

Hippo Baba and the 40 thousand thieves.

What a disgrace.

If laws were to be enforced, they'd campaign and run the country from La Victoria.

Unfortunately, the people keep voting in these "dubious politicos" of any party and they suffer their gluttony, they deserve better choices.

Vacanos you hit the nail right on the head. The problem is that a very large proportion of those who will vote in May can neither read nor write so have no understanding of the realities and are swept away by the hype of the political rallies now taking place every weekend. The only thing one can say about Mejia is that if voted in he can "voy a robar a lo publico" and say "well you could see what I would do and still voted for me so you are getting what you asked for"

The other problem is the lack of a credible alternative. Many think that Danilo will only be a puppet president with Fernandez pulling the strings via his wife as vice president. It would be nice to think he is only playing along with this and if he became president would become his own man but I have my doubts.

The only thing which is clear is that for Fernandez either of these candidates is a win/win situation for him. He can stand as a savior following Mejia or as the man to continue the good work of Danil

Thanks Atabey,
The former failed president’s act and verbal retardation are as apparent as ever, especially when asked if he felt he had failed as a president.LOL.
