I don't think people should be praying for something bad to happen to Hipolito. That is really unethical, and God won't do that. That's kinda disrespectful to God as well. Even though Hipolito is a horrible candidate and was a catastrophic president... I don't want him to die or get some disease, that's really mean-spirited.
Now, with my previous comment, I didn't really want to say we'll be better off with Danilo either. There's really no good candidate for us, but Hipolito was just terrible, and I sure hope the dollar doesn't get to be like 60 to 1 again.
Danilo is kind of an idiot tho, he's like Leonel's puppet... he pretty much has no ideas of his own. Starting with that he wants to search for oil/petroleum. Seriously? That's been done before, you dumb thing! For some reason it didn't work. Do your research.

Professor Generoso,
I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that the term COMESOLOS, the eat a lones…… is term that was coined by Joaquin Balaguer, when after making Lie onel president in 1996 he reneged on certain agreements and the PLD were hogging up all the pie for themselves, thus resulting in Balaguer withdrawing support from Danilo in 2000 causing him to lose to Hipolito.
I have also heard that the term was coined by the PRD when the observed government trucks during Lie’onel misadministration of 1996 distributing food that was destined for ALL people, under the cover of night only to the PLD Party faithful. Thus the COMESOLO Moniker which has stuck to them like Crazy Glue all these years.

But the letter sent by Mejía to Fernández last Friday, in addition to assuming a new position worthy of a statesman, did the country the service of documenting the belief of the community of experts and international institutions that Baninter fraud and other banks was the main cause of the economic crisis of the nation during the period 2003-2004, and that the fraud had not detected, or had not pursued, until that accounting in pyramid schemes collapsed at the end of 2002.

Mejia affirms Baninter committed fraud
Surprising communication takes place one day after an arrest order is issued against his former military aide.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Ex- president Hipólito Mejía said yesterday that the collapse of three banks in 2003 was the result of fraudulent operations and discarded that they occurred because of his administration’s failed economic policy, as president Leonel Fernandez affirms.
The ex chief executive suggested to president Fernandez that "let us leave justice to do its work" and operate free of political pressures.
In a letter to Fernandez, Mejía said that the government always will count on his support for the approval of all those reforms and measures which the country requires to face the challenges and opportunities that the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Central America presents (DR-CAFTA).

"The fraud occurred during an extensive period of time that included, not only my two first years of government, but the four previous years presided over by you," stated Mejía in an open letter of 150 paragraphs titled "From Hipólito Mejía to Leonel Fernandez."
He urged Fernandez to ask that the governor of the Central Bank send him the documentation in which it is revealed that in the Baninter case the fraud began in 1989.
Mejia's surprising communication takes place one day after a National District judge issued an arrest order against his former military aide, colonel (r) Pedro Julio Goico (Pepe), for questioning in connection with the drug-trafficking case of Quirino Paulino.

The term "comesolos" was coined by Balaguer himself, on or around 1997, when he felt ripped off by the PLD, in not naming many PRSC ministers, or sharing governmental "honeys" with Balaguer's party regulars.
When Balaguer gave unconditional support of Lionel Fernandez in 1996, he did not set up any kind of
quid pro quo for his backing, for which he later felt unappreciated by the PLD.

“The former district attorney said that Alianza País has the determination to combat the scourge, noting that it is one of the priorities of that entity's proposals to govern”.

Clinton may not be able protect to Bellerive... or his partner Felix Bautista
Corruption found in contracts worth 400 million US with Felix Bautista: the Audit Commission recommends that the contracts of Jean Max Bellerive, Hervé Day, Michel Content and Lionel Grand Pierre be suspended.
Meanwhile, rumors about the practices used in awarding the contracts between these companies and the former Prime Minister, were met with dismay by Republicans in Washington.
continued:
Without sparing any resource, Republican politicians opposed to the Administration Obama are looking at every aspect of these events and contracts with the aim of finding grounds to launch an inquiry that will cause problems for the White House and the Democratic Party.

Clinton no podrá proteger a Bellerive... ni a su socio Félix Bautista
The HEAT is on!

GDPs, Exchange and Inflation Rates, Investments and economic/social dynamic (?)

I love when people that DO NOT LIVE on DR try to lecture people that FEEL THE PAIN of this Piece of SH$T GOVEREMENT EVERY SINGLE F@CKING DAY, I just will tell you that i wish you repeat this:
"...Yes Leonel of today is probably in par with Hippoburro in term of corruption but the difference is that he knows how to run a country. That is where it stop..."
On a Concho car, a car wash or on a Super market, IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, not here on an Internet Newpaper, let's see the reaction that you get from the people, let's see how many think like you...the Gasoline just went UP almost 3 pesos per gallon YESTERDAY,
Professor Generoso,
I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that the term COMESOLOS, the eat a lones…… is term that was coined by Joaquin Balaguer, when after making Lie onel president in 1996 he reneged on certain agreements and the PLD were hogging up all the pie for themselves, thus resulting in Balaguer withdrawing support from Danilo in 2000 causing him to lose to Hipolito.
Professor do you know which is accurate or are they both Urban legends!

3- Gallon of PROPANE GAS to COOK, from RD$25 that I PAID to OVER RD$103 FOR THE FIRST TIME on DR history over RD$100 pesos!!
4- Pound of Chicken, from RD$13 to the RD$54 pesos THAT I JUST PAID yesterday.
I got A LOT more

Do you find DISRESPECTFULL what i wrote?? TOO BAD, because is SIMPLE AND PLAIN LOGIC that I HAVE A BETTER PERSPECTIVE from DR situation THAN YOU living on that country, i guess is EASY to see a different prespective LIKE DR is driving a ferrari when you DON'T SEE CHOLERA OR DENGUE FROM 1st WORLD COUNTRY GERMANY.
BY the WAY, I'M NOT arguing that yout and others send money to the country from Overseas i did not REFER TO THAT SUBJECT... WHAT I WILL ARGUE to the hell and back is that NO ONE that does not go what we go through under this clown can LECTURE US on the quality of this piece of Sh$T GOVERMENT...

I dare say , just say the words sun land scandal , does that ring a bell hipolito .

Sun LAnd, was an INCONSTITUTIONAL loan made by PLD goverment of $130 MILLION DOLLARS that nobody knows where they are, for the first time in a long time the PRD did something good by taking this to court, but the supreme court said basically this to them:
"you are right but you don't have the QUALITY to summit this sue, the ones capable are the president of the deputy chamber and the president of the senate"...Obviously BOTH are PLD borregos...
Is this what we have come to?
How much further down low can we go?
SO LET'S BE FAIR here...i don't think anyone that had a penny on baninter will critizice Hipolito Mejia for bailing out the Bank, includding the guy on power...
Who are You to tell us THAT WE SHOULD NO BE OPINIONATED about the Internal affairs of our Country (?)
We have our Right even though if you pleased or get pissed off; put down your arrogance please,
don't you mind that we could have a better overview or perspective of the World Ongoing
than you (?)
Do you think that Dom. Rep. is the only country facing this Global Challenges, please, give us a break (!) Our Concern should be to make a better country out of ours, but I can hardly argue that under HipoLoco that would never Happen, Not in Thousand Years (!)

The President of the Supreme Court, Jorge Subero Isa, in September 2006 told Hans Hertell, then Ambassador of United States in Dominican Republic, that the Vice-President of the High Court, Rafael Luciano Pichardo, admitted that he received $40 000 from a person, and that it would not be "for nothing".
Subero Isa also said they knew that Luciano Pichardo had asked the judge at that time handling the trial against Ramon Baez Figueroa for the scam on Baninter, to be "flexible" with the defense.

In this context, in his public comments improvised in May and June, Fernández repeatedly blamed the financial and economic crisis of 2003-2004 to the "mismanagement" of the economy of Mejía, while Fernández conspicuously omitted any mention of the bank fraud.

In a letter to Fernandez, Mejía said that the government always will count on his support for the approval of all those reforms and measures which the country requires to face the challenges and opportunities that the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Central America presents (DR-CAFTA).
continued:

“Neither the PRD or the PLD will ever fight corruption “
“SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-the presidential candidate for Alianza País, Guillermo Moreno, said Sunday that the Dominican Liberation (PLD) and Revolutionary Dominican (PRD) parties will "never” fight corruption, because he understands they are the ones who have led and practiced wherever it has been their turn to govern."
In that regard Moreno stated that the Dominican society must move beyond bipartisanship and give opportunity to a new political alternative “that is really willing and incapacity to confront the corrupt and process them through the appropriate judicial authorities".
“The former district attorney said that Alianza País has the determination to combat the scourge, noting that it is one of the priorities of that entity's proposals to govern”.
