SANTO DOMINGO. – Icon TV producer Rafael Corporán de los Santos died early Monday in the Abreu Clinic, where it was taken after having fainted. "El Viejo Corpo" as he was popularly called passed away near 3am and his wife Grissel said he had trouble sleeping and was becoming very depressed for several days.

Corporan’s death comes just two days after the TV channel ColorVision paid him tribute for his 25 uninterrupted years on television.

“Thank God that he could enjoy all those things while he was still alive. He enjoyed his tribute and also had the opportunity to read the newspapers," his wife said.

The iconic figure of the long running show Sabado de Corporan rose from a shoe-shine boy to producer of the country’s top rated TV show.

Dominican Today does not reveal two very important details in this report.: What he died of and how old, at time of death.
DT, I love you very much, but you fail me at times... Straighten up!

Corporan was 71 years old and was suffering from a severe depression, none of the DR news sources, provided details on the exact cause of death, although his wife commented that "he fainted".
From 1990-1994, Corporan was mayor of the city of Santo Domingo, with Balaguer's party.
RIP old corpo! as he was affectionately called by his peers.

I feel badly by the news of Rafael Corporán passing. He was a wonderful guy, I have nothing but good memories of him. RIP.

Like all good hearted, caring and loving people they often leave us way to soon.

I say honour this man's memory by picking up where he left off.

Why not start by helping/supporting the orphanages in our country to help stop this cycle of poverty.

The future of any country lies in it's youth.

Side stepping the ME, MINE and I mentality with no excuses. These children need our unconditional support.

{ He enjoyed his tribute and also had the opportunity to read the newspapers," his wife said.}

I'm not a, maybe I am, but shouldn't this read:

"He enjoyed his tribute and also had the opportunity to read (about it ) in the newspapers"..?

He did one thing best.

Make others happy from his doings. No matter the class, the wealth, the political allegiance..

No politikero has that claim to fame.

I have a couple of orphanages in the DR in mind that could use some badly the name and memory of Rafael C.
