IF a poor says I am very poor, he creates more poverty ///
IF a rich says I am very very Rich, he automatically produces more richness (!)
so, where is the fairness, how can poor compete against riches (?)

Yes this topic needs to be addressed world wide but to beleave the Loe knows how?? If he can not even fix it in the DR and stop the over flooding of imported products into the DR that kill off local producers. Grand speeches on the UN stage, with on real fix or solutions...

Stillhere, how it comes that the matter at hand was proposed by Pres. Leonel Fernandez and embraced between well known world leaders which by the way are supporting his thesis (?)
Common, at least you got to give it up that it was L.F. whom brought this topic to the international sphere (!)

Mr. Lie-onel needs to control the price rocketting in DR first, then he can talk in U.N.

If he has not first, or further most the right to speak on the U.N, how could he ever make a request over the one that are pushing the prices down, an causing so much damage into the global economies (?)
explain that to me ... or would you prefer to impose it upon the ones that can't express themselves about things of their concern (?)

this has been in the international "sphere" for while now and is not new to anyone following world economics and commodity trading.... Yes it good he is talking about it....So what are his solution, what would he do about it??? It's one thing to talk (he does a lot of) and another to imperilment changes within your own country to stop rapid price increases/shortages in commodities.. food, fuel etc ..
Are you so sure he came up with his "thesis" ?
23 September 2010 BRUSSELS – On the eve of an emergency FAO-meeting devoted to instability in agricultural markets, the UN Special Rapporteur publishes a study analyzing the impact of speculation on food price volatility.
Since 1996, the share of the markets for basic foods like wheat held by speculators – who have no connection to food – has increased from 12 per cent to 61 per cent.

First he'll attempt to cure Chavez's cancer with prayer, then solve the world's food shortage with a speech in the UN auditorium. In both cases, now one will be listening.

Maybe so, but how much effect has this had on supply, demand and pricing? Futures trading is really just placing a bet that you know better than someone else, what the price will be by a particular date. This is not much different from the share market when you think about it. Yet no one is grumbling about that, or are they?

Interesting article, thanks, stillhere,
I still do think futures commodity trading can produce such huge swings, but assuming it can and does, how is Leo going to stop it? He can't even get is own citizens to stop at traffic lights.
