Will campaign come to a close without a debate?
SANTO DOMINGO.- The president of the young business leaders grouped in ANJE on Wednesday revealed that one of the presidential candidates has yet to confirm his participation in the first ever debate between contenders to the National Palace, but they expect it in the next few days.
Manuel Cabral said ANJE had received a missive from both candidates in the last days, but only one of them confirmed his participation, but they expect the other part will do the same.
As to which one of the candidate hadn’t confirmed –either ruling party PLD Danilo Medina, opposition PRD par Hipolito Mejia- Cabral said only that they’ll provide all the details in the next few days, when everything is ready.
The debate was slated for April 17, but has been postponed for Thursday, May 3.

The editor of Dominican Today predicted two weeks ago, that there will be no debate, and I believed his prophecy.
Hipoloco knows that he will need to get a ventriloquist next to him, to utter his responses, due to the fact that he is "dumb plus dumber".
All those that fantasize about a debate, better drink a dose of reality, this will not happen.

haha generoso i think ur right. hipo is not able to keep a clean convo going for more than 1 min, if he does go to the debate i think he will embarass himself and lose everything. danilo is a good man but the problem is Leo is calling all the shots, so danilo will just be a puppet and am pretty sure danilo is the one thats going to win

Regardless, they should not postpone the debate. If any contender doesn't show up, tough. His opponents get to give their views unopposed.
The debate is a very important (if not the only) platform advising the electorate of their policies, and a sample of their proficiency in debating in congress. If the can't do this then they are clearly not capable of running the government.
The posting of huge portraits and motorcades seem to be going ahead on time.

I suspect they both have cold feet. Do not be surprised if the debate is about having the debate.
The agenda is one candidate wants a square table and the other wants a round table, they can't come to agreement and the debate is off. Both candidates avoid making fools of themselves in a public forum, (other than the debate over tables). . It is back to the normal way of politicking using catch phrases, innendos, and buying votes with chickens.

Why does the Dominican Republic need a bicameral system at all? Unlike the USA and Australia, it was not formed by the federation of previously independent states, territories or colonies. Bicameral systems are a compromise between giving each state equal representation, and representation based on population.

The most interesting thing about this debate is that Jesy anne support a "secret presidential candidate"..
Mr. Nobody moreno , that took the millions distributed in equal parts that JCE provided to political parties, but instead of making a political campaign with that ,it went directly to his pocket..
Tax payers money of course..
