I think that this killing was commited by someone who knew her closely, my question to this is, don't they have security camera, alarm system or some sort of security for such high ranking diplomat. The security guard at that condo where she lived has to be taking into questioning. Josean I don't know what this has to do with Leonel, Let me ask you something each time a student in the USA goes into school and killed his classmate, is Obama responsible for that? I don't so, so why then you put the blame on Leonel. Like I say this crime must has been commited by someone that she knew because in the report it does not mention a force of entree to her apartment. Josean leave this country at one. The PLD is in power and will remain for years to come. Maybe this killing was commited by a PRD party member since they are trying to kill and foreign leader and also their one leader. I guess you didn't have time to look into that possibility?

What a stupid comparison, its an insult to the United States. When have you guys seen Obama traveling with cocaine in his plane and let the pilot take the blame or Obama tell the IMF he needs to borrow money to pay a tab and then use it for his own personal gain or Obama waist tax payers monies and get away with it or deny students of a healthy education system or build a university in a foreign land and not relinquish the administration of it because that country don't want to use his services or partner up with a Spaniard drug lord to build a few buildings without proper neighborhood planning resulting in the contamination of the aquifer . Leonel is an illegal president and mayor of SDQ and if the system wasn't in such disarray the blame wouldn't be his. Also, you guys forget that you can fit DR in Texas, so why wouldn't he have total control of it all, he does what he pleases and you guys say GOOD JOB. You people must be cut from the same rag.

I think we are for the sake of quick solutions becoming a little bit too quick to blame politicians for all the crimes in the Island....these problems have been around for decades, we just did not have the communications tools to know ....before we had to wait for the news papers to read how many people were killed the day before and now we find out withing seconds.
Who can say is not some one from her own circle who's done this for what ever personal or professional reason(s) ? This is not uncommon in some Asian societies. January 3, 2011, 6:26 pm Murders Rise in New York City, but Remain Near Historic Lows
By KAREN ZRAICK
With the last homicide recorded on New Year’s Eve, the New York Police Department counted 532 murders in 2010 — a 13 percent increase from 2009, when there were 471.
But, as police officials have often pointed out, the numbers can be misleading. The 2009 figure was the lowest number of murders since 1963, when the department began keeping reliable statistics. And even the total in 2010 was the fourth lowest, and the year was the the ninth consecutive that the total was below 600.
Major felony crime, the police said on Monday, was down 1.6 percent compared to the prior year, and down 35 percent compared to 2001.

. Bakery for Dona Chucha
A California woman, Julie Villarini, who had recently lost her husband turned her grief into an entrepreneurship project with her nephew, Courtland Palmer in the Dominican Republic.
The son of US celebrity chef Charlie Palmer, Courtland Palmer raised US$90,000 to set up a bakery, Panaderia Tio Russ, for orphaned and destitute girls living at the Dona Chucha and Altagracia orphanages in Santo Domingo. Chef Palmer helped by hosting a charity pig roast at VML Winery that raised US$40,000. Courtland lives in California.
The bakery provides food to eat and income for the orphanage, and helps the surrounding community by selling the bread. The plan is that the girls can learn how to cook and prepare food, and acquire skills that enable them to get jobs, making the project a sustainable initiative.

The crime and murder rate has maintained a fairly steady high, regardless of whether the PLD or the PRD is in power. The absence of policies (other than meaningless rhetoric) by both parties is understandable, because much or the electorate is not interested in policies either. I think Stillhere and I are the only ones to even mention them here.
It seems many people vote on the basis of the party they can expect some favors from, in return for their support, rather that on the basis of who they think will prevent this country going over the cliff it is currently racing towards.
