Santo Domingo.- Today Tuesday the country marks the 47th anniversary of the Revolution of April, when on the 24th of that month in 1965, a revolt sought to return ousted president Juan Bosch back in office, and the return of democracy.

Various institutions will host commemorative activities to mark the historical event for the Dominican Republic starting 9am, with a vigil in the Colonial Zone’s Puerta del Conde, the site where the uprising began.

At the same hour a mass will be officiated in honor of the fallen April fighters, in the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, in the Colonial Zone.

That Neo-Liberal turn happened BEFORE the Frente Patriotico Nacional and Bosch was in Washington to present Leonel to the bosses. He knew who buttered the bread and was there to address any concerns Washington might have had concerning the young Leonel Fernandez.

Politicians are prostitutes and hunger for one thing: Political Power. Bosch knew his time was up and so he did his part to gain Leonel all the possible advantages he could while still in relative health.

History was not kind to Bosch but we need not be uncritical of his actions. His ploy with Balaguer against Jose F. Gomez prevented JF. Gomez from winning the Presidency. It was pay back against his old right hand and heir apparent.
