Santo Domingo.- At lightning strike cracked part of the pavement of Higüero Airport’s runway early Tuesday, and halted morning operations, according to Dominican airports management company (Aerodom) PR director Yolanda Mañán.
She said the five inch deep crack on the runway was detected in the morning during the first inspection at 6:30am, when the damage was verified and temporarily fixed, “to conduct the definitive repair when there are no operations.”
Mañán said terminal operations resumed 9:30am, and “this event only affected three commercial flights, two of them to Haiti and one which went to Punta Cana.”
