Santo Domingo. - AlPais party presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno will fly to the United States today for several rallies and activities with that nation’s various Dominican communities.

In his five day visit Moreno will head activities to promote his platform and to attract supporters prior to next month’s elections, starting with a 9pm gathering in the AlPais offices on St. Nicholas Av.

On Friday Moreno will hold a news conference prior to a supper with members of the United States labor movement, and on Saturday will meet with professionals who’ll accompany him on stroll through Washington Heights. That same day he’ll visit the Paterson Museum, in New Jersey.

On Sunday the AlPais candidate will host an open dinner at the Malcolm X Center in the Upper Manhattan and after that meet with supporters of his party.

Moreno, whose survey numbers lead all minority party candidates, will return to the country on Monday.

josean, this is what happens when you take country bumpkins out of the bush, and give them 3 months remedial education classes. they believe that they are sages, and experts on all things. i bet victor never graduated from any recognized, accredited, culinary institute, but he styles himself as an "international chef". nowadays, anyone who can make pancakes, in addition to frying tostones and salami, is Bobby Flay. cracks me up.

Jamaica is a new country : Since 1962, not very institutionalize.Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Jamaica as well.. Absurd.!

Jamaica is going through a very hard financial situation because of the decrease of the tourism, and the shutting of aluminum mines.

Jamaica is consider according to Wikipedia one of the most dangerous places in the world. The murder rate is one of the highest in the world.

They only have only 2.5 million people and a decrease of GDP of 2.5% annually since 1995

Educational speaking , I would consider Jamaicans in a lower level and position that haitians in USA :Haitians usually dont fit in guetto style and can keep a job easier due to the lack of drug problems that usually jamaicans have

You have no idea of what you are talking about..

You can go to the groceries store in your neighborhood and find the same seasoning you will use WITHOUT paying a ticket to Asia: ;
Sesame oil, Chili Sauce ( Mostly in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnamese food), soy sauce ( chop Sui), Japanese curry ,wasabi, rice vinegar, fish sauce ( your soups) duck sauce( egg rolls), sesame oil ( fried rice), teriyaki sauce ( fried chicken),Japanese ginger ( sushi), Indian curry and oyster sauce, etc, etc, etc,,..

I had a a Moroccan exec. Chef, I like the food but I am not kill myself for it..And we as Dominicans have a strong Lebanese roots.. ( yes, ask anybody! )

In fact, it's very simple to work with oriental ingredients..So, it open my appetite and I will fix a chow fan for dinner.. But to call it super fancy? I dont think so..

Australians do not pay tribute or taxes to the Queen. We pay taxes to the government that provides infrastructure and services, on the basis of the policies that are determined by a democratic political process, virtually free from corruption. The Dominican system is so riddled with corruption that there are no policies, and there is almost no provision of infrastructure and services except just before an election.

The Queen has no direct power over the Australian government - only reserve powers if the political process reaches a deadlock. By contrast, not only your president, but even his wife, can spend billions from the public coffers without approval of congress as they see fit, can ignore the constitution, and are above the law.

We have separation of church and state. You don't - with a marriage enshrined in a Concordat - how "medieval" is that?

For dominicans and latinamericans it has cost A LOT historically speaking to be completely independent from Spain:
The stories of Nunez de caceres, Pedro Santana, Luperon, some others can tell about how much blood they have spend so we can be free.

Nobody can come from Europe to have us again as slave and stealing our resources like 17 th century.
Each country should decide which one is their destiny , where do they wanna go, and what are their priority with or without corruption. That's how people and nation mature.

Are you not forgetting what you owe to England for your independence? It was the American Munroe Doctrine that prevented further interference in Latin America by European powers. However USA did not have the naval power to enforce it, and relied totally on English naval superiority. "Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves, England never never never will be slaves!"

Your invisible man in the sky was against your freedom. His representative on Earth, Pope Alexander VI, divided the Americas in his Papal Bul "Inter Caetera" between Spain and Portugal (greatly favoring Spain). Your Catholic Church still interferes in national affairs. Read your 1954 Concordat between the Dominican Government and the Holy See.

The British government has no authority over, or responsibility for Australia, or vice-versa. QE2 is the queen of Australia and the queen of the UK and some other countries. They are entirely independent roles. She has no authority or even influence in the policies of government, and certainly cannot commit Australian troops to war as some Dominicans believe.
Australia is an ally of, and has friendly relations with the UK, just as she has with USA.

ohhhvictor,
The Australian Governor General is appointed by queen on the advice of the government, and requires the support of both the Senate and the House of Representatives (government an opposition) and hence is totally bi-partisan. He or she is paid a modest salary and has some clearly-defined benefits, but has no access to the government coffers.

By contrast, you president is totally partisan, and owes substantial favors to those who put him on the throne. He has enormous power, and both hands in the till, with almost no accountability, amasses an enormous personal fortune, (at the expense of the taxpayer), and can ignore the constitution with impunity, but must pay homage, and substantial amounts of public money, to the Roman Church.

i love it when you go to the airport, and you see Belkis, and her mom, giving gringo from Pittsburgh, a fond farewell. gringo has not made up his mind which one he prefers, because Belkis is 17, and moms is 31. so, all the kissing and smooching goes on, and Dave the fireman gets on the 2pm to Philly. as soon as it has cleared tarmac, Belkis has already hooked up with some guy called Bruce from Toronto, on the 1.30pm inbound. hey, the cab is already paid for...why waste space?

Invasion? How many H-bombs or conventional bombs did they drop? How may cities did they shell from battleships? How many ships did they sink with torpedoes? The USA virtually walked in and took over. They occupied to protect US interests in the county, to quell a civil war and to stop a Communist take-over. Maybe they miss-read the situation, but in the context of the the Cold War, they were paranoid about the Dominican Republic becoming another Cuba. if it was a real invasion, they would have annexed the whole country and made it an American Commonwealth like Puerto Rico, or state like Hawaii. Many here have argued the Dominican people would be better off had they done so.

Regardless of what happened probably before you were born, half a century ago, the Dominican Republic couldn't defend itself from a real invasion, and is entirely dependent on the USA. The heroic patriots of the past have long since gone. Now you have an army of fat generals who have never seen a day's action.

He said he can teach how to assemble an super extremely complicated music system into a fancy car out of the blue. And can teach how to do so..to somebody that has been doing that for years?

They have been doing it for years. sadly, they have been doing it wrongly, since none of them have a clue.i went to the biggest distributor of woofers in the country, in Santiago. there is a specification sheet called Thiele Small parameters, which gives the mechanical and electrical qualities of woofers. without that sheet, you CANNOT design a proper speaker, because you have to use a formula, and the parameters have to be entered into said formula, which then tells you the size of the enclosure, and whether the woofer is designed to work in a sealed enclosure, one with a port, or a back loaded horn. the big cheese, whom eveybody looks up to for counsel, and advice, had never heard of the sheet!!!
Written by: dreadlocks, 1 May 2012 12:33 PM
From: United States
hey, vic, think that your guys use this kind of information when building speakers

Optimum volume for ported enclosure (cubic ft):

These formulas were engineered by D.B. Keele Jr. using the vented enclosure alignments developed by A.N. Thiele.

Enclosure volume: Vb = 15 Vas (Qts^2.87)

Theoretical cut-off frequency: F3 = 0.26 Fs (Qts^ -1.4)

Tuning frequency: Fb = 0.42 Fs (Qts^ -0.9)

If an ideal box is to large for your application, choose an enclosure size in cu.ft. then

Find: F3 = (Vas / Vb)^1/2 (Fs) (an exponent to 1/2 is the same as taking the square root)

New tuning frequency: Fb = (Vas / Vb)^0.32 (Fs)

Note: these formulas for the "ideal" enclosure provide a flat response curve, reasonably low F3, and fair transient response. The smaller you make the enclosure, the larger the peak in the response curve, the higher the F3, and the poorer the transient response. Enclosures much smaller than the "ideal" alignment will sound muddled and boomy.

"Black-art" and "gut-feel" don't come from reading, learning and thinking.
As for "Enclosures much smaller than the "ideal" alignment will sound muddled and boomy."
That's how Bachata is meant to be endured, and the under-sized sealed enclosure prevents the cone from being destroyed when the pre-amp is producing low-frequency square waves in the front-end of the power-amp by being cranked to maximum volume, with +12 dB bass-boost (from clipping).

i see you understand the subject matter. these morons put two 10 inch woofer in a sealed enclosure that is 5 inches deep, and 4 sizes too small. they call that enclosure the VOZ. then, they wire the tweeters in parallel as one channel, and the woofers are similarly connected. that is beyond primitive. besides, none of them know that when you build a sealed enclosure, you have to stuff it tightly with wool, or hollofill, or some such material. they are clueless, but victor thinks that they are master engineers.
