FBI asks Dominicans in NYC to help apprehend serial bank robber

Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic has issued an alert through DT to the Dominican diaspora in New York to assist in the apprehension of a serial bank robber who’s wanted by the authorities for at least eight armed robberies in New York City and to protect people from the alleged assailant.

“Your publication of this story could even create an eventual connection to someone who may know be able to identify the individual. His moniker is “Snub-Nosed Bandit” for his use of a silver, snub-nosed revolver, caught on film and video footage of several of the robberies that you can view yourself on the link below,” the statement sent Saturday to DT says.

The US Embassy said among the armed robberies, multiple locations have significant pockets of Dominicans and/or Dominican-American populations.

It also cites the Website of the FBI: "An unknown male suspect, known as the Snub-Nosed Bandit is wanted for at least eight armed robberies in New York:

On March 2, 2012, the Apple Bank located at 414 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, was robbed; On February 26, 2012, the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 107-24 Corona Avenue, Corona, Queens, was robbed; On February 12, 2012, the Papa John’s Pizza store located at 43-04 National Avenue, Corona, Queens, was robbed and a shot was fired.”

It said that on January 28, 2012, the Chase Bank located at 205-19 Hillside Avenue, Hollis, Queens, was robbed; On January 6, 2012, the Sovereign Bank located at 75-15 31st Avenue, East Elmhurst, was robbed; On December 7, 2011, the HSBC Bank located at 22-15 43rd Avenue, Queens, was robbed and a shot was fired; On October 18, 2011, the Capital One Bank located at 185 Broadway, Brooklyn, was robbed; On September 25, 2011, the Dunkin Donuts located at 356 McGuiness Blvd., Brooklyn, was robbed and a shot was fired.”

“This individual is described as a Black or Hispanic male, approximately 35 years old, between 5’5" and 5’7", and 150 to 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing glasses and carrying a silver revolver. The suspect may speak Spanish and/or be of Dominican background,” the emailed statement said.
