The journalist conducted the survey in the New Market, The Count, Bella Vista Mall and a supermarket in Piantini.

As expected, the results released by Piera on her Saturday show in its "Nuria on 9", unleashed the demons of the harshest criticisms from the followers of the ruling party candidate Danilo Medina.

The contradiction between polls favoring Danilo Medina and the consistent wave of opinion which defines Hipólito Mejía as the candidate that is more popular in all sectors of Dominican society, raises two possible scenarios, among them one must be true some and the other false.

If the survey data that attributed to Medina an approximate advantage of six to seven points over Mejía, were true, it should be inferred that the results of other three recent surveys (Economic Center of Cibao and Bendixen Greemberg-DiarioLibre) who invert the figures for opposition candidate are false. The same conclusion should apply to the various surveys carried out over the radio, television, and news media, especially on the street, on public transport and in companies.

This scenario we would have to assumes that specifically the polls made by Acento.com.do, Revista 110, El Poder de las 12 and the program you Ustedes y Nosotors, which have traveled great part of the country asking people with a television camera who will vote in the elections of May 20, have been part of a fraudulent set up to assist Hipólito Mejía. As is known, in all these media surveys theresults widely favor the PRD's candidate.

As far as smooching up to the Chinese community, and Chinese government, the US did it, Canada has a trade mission to China even, so why not the DR?

As far as the DR president intervening in the above case, the US president has the same prerogative. By the way, immigration laws are different in the DR than in America, get used to it. I have come across so many Americans complaining that the DR immigration laws are too lax, and should be more like America... I don't like crossing the US border or even changing planes in the US, because policy is enforced so unevenly and you never know when you will be given a hard time or worse. Treating anyone like garbage at their own discretion at the borders may be the American way, but it doesn't justify it.
I prefer the Dominican way any day.

The need to change the model of development and to better distribute the benefits of growth is one of the few points on which candidates are agreed in the presidential election of 20 may in the Dominican Republic. Behind the fringed beaches of coconut trees that attract four million tourists each year, more than 40 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line. Poverty has barely declined, although the country's growth rate is among the highest in Latin America and the Caribbean for twenty years (4.5% in 2011).

More than one million poor families receive a monthly stipend of 700 pesos (14 euros) through the "solidarity card".
