SANTO DOMINGO.- One member of the five person Central Electoral Board (JCE) on Friday called the Observation Commission’s report regarding the civic group Citizen Participation issued yesterday, a disrespect to the institutionalism and an ignorance of its authority.
Eddy Olivares said he learned of the report through media and that the Commission headed by Marina Hilario isn’t authorized to disclose reports prior to review.
He said the JCE is a collegiate body and decisions to publish a report of that nature should me made among all of its members.
In a press conference Hilario said random samples of personnel proposed by PC as observers found “inconsistencies including people with criminal records for drug trafficking, aggravated assault and other crimes.”

"SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-political scientist Faustino Collado refuted the arguments used by the Central Electoral Board to challenge to 188 citizens proposed by citizen participation to election observers on May 20.
In a letter addressed to the plenary of the JCE, Collado warns that with the decision taken by that entity are violated articles 21, 22, 23, 24 and 39 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic.

Collado who for many years was active in the revolutionary left, says that he has a criminal record, if one takes into account that he was imprisoned and put on trial on several occasions when he was involved in popular protests calling for Justice and freedom for the Dominican people.
"In my case, with pride, I have a criminal record." "I was subjected ten (10) times to courts proceedings prior to being imprisoned, beaten, tortured and for posting signs on walls and posts, demonstrations, speaking at major rallies and micro rallies in favour of the freedom of my people, for the right to life and against the State and paramilitary terror", it expresses Collado
He highlights that he also protested against the electoral fraud of 1990, which earned him arrest, torture and legal subjugation.

"That fact the JCE can use criminal background to prevent me from being electoral observer on May 20 means the JCE is reviving a hateful and discriminatory classification of medieval times and dictatorial governments, citizens of first and second-class!", noted political scientist and University Professor.
