Santo Domingo.- More than 6.0 million Dominicans are eligible to vote for a President and Overseas deputies to a term of four years today Sunday, concluding the most peaceful electoral campaign in the country’s half century under democracy.
Yesterday’s drenching rains and forecasts of more nationwide today raised concerns of massive abstention, but most regions report few precipitation despite overcast skies.
DT will provide continuous coverage throughout the day and into the evening, and the Central Electoral Board announced it would provide the results prior to 9am.

Los Mina, East Santo Domingo.-A group of militants of the opposition Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) in the neighborhood chased David Contreras, leader of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and former mayor of San Luis, when they allegedly distributed money in a house in the neighborhood of Las Flores in exchange for identity cards and votes.
Contreras was holding a briefcase with money when he was caught by the PRD who came to the house after receiving information at that place cards were being purchased, as explained by the eyewitnesses.

The PRD surrendered PLD leader Bobea to the Electoral Military Police. They also gave money to show as proof of his claim.
Electoral Military Police briefly detained and disarmed the PLD leader Freddy Santana, and two men who accompanied him.
These men went to school Colombina Canario to "rescue" Peter Bobea also PLD leader, who had been given to the Electoral Military Police by a group of PRD.
