M. Vargas. File.

Santo Domingo.- A group of rank and file of the opposition PRD party arrived at its campaign located in the Naco sector near daybreak Monday morning, chanting for the head of the organization’s president Miguel Vargas, in the heels of their electoral defeat.

Many PRD leaders say their party’s National Executive Committee has to meet to boot Vargas out, voicing their disgust.

“We need to bust his skull,” Maximo Bonilla, a PRD leader of the Eastern zone told news source hoy.com.do bluntly.

The defeat has deflated some of leaders’ enthusiasm, casting over them a shadow of powerlessness to do anything.

First they claimed that the PLD had stolen the elections and now Vargas Maldonado is the one to blame.

Sore losers.

- The political environment of D.R. will be VERY interesting :PRSC without Balaguer and leadership, PRD without Pena, and not big enough for Mejia and MVM at the same time, the political future of Leonel.. He decline to comment after that interesting question yesterday ( like Balaguer would do), but Danilo really represent the future of PLD?
-
- Danilo was famous because when he was the secretary of presidency was the guy that run the national palace extremely efficiently ( they called him the brain behind the power) .
But can he run a country on the same way?

- -What’s going to be the REAL role of margarita?
She had an outstanding social work as a a first lady with social causes in the “Despacho de La Primera dama”, like no other first lady in D. R history .The question is , what can we really expect from her?

- There are a LOT of projects still pending to finish: Including the Metro, national and international debts, electoral promises, education, south–Cibao train etc. What is the concrete plan of Danilo to handle it?

- Now we have more questions than answers, we hope that the good Lord enlighten the steps of our new president

The most interesting things in this election:

- PRSC is not the third option no more in D.R. election history. Small parties like Morenos, got a bigger % in votes

- The high resentment against Bulldog Maldonado and the clown Mejia was very obvious.MVM was not a friendly figure to attract votes and Mejia was very hard to swallow one more of his disgusting jokes.

- If another figure from the PRD doesn’t stand up, the PLD will be the party that is going to run the country for long long years.

- The fact that Danilo got over 50% of votes on the first round means an acceptance of the people of the government of PLD, and the gratitude of the work made by his people. Not the most popular government in the world, but very practical in the sense of palpable public work.

More of the same with added roles to make her worthy come 2016. If Danilo's term is successful then she stands to be elected as FIRST ever Woman President of the DR. So her work with and in support of Women causes will be key.

The Hippo Era is dead. Perhaps some more PRD come over to the PLD and thus the PLD becomes like other long time dominant Parties in Sweden, Japan, Mexico, etc. Ruling for decades. Sometimes these trends are good in establishing and forging the modernization and development of a nation-state. Let's hope it's so for the DR.

Continue the Goal towards 4% of PIB in education
Continue the transportation Metro system and construct the SD to Santiago Rail link with ports

and more....STILL>>>>>

not necessarily. it could also mean that they could not bring themselves to vote for the alternative. Trevor Berbick was once the world heavyweight boxing champ. does not mean he was any good. it was just that the competition, at that time, sucked.

Lets be clear the PRD always get the most votes than any other party including the PLD. What hurt them is their inability to win over to their side other smaller party.

Perhaps Vacano, but I think this fiasco of an election result might well discombobulate the old party and perhaps offer the PLD a chance of bringing in or co-opting some of its disillusioned members of the PRD to build the PLD into THE MEGA PARTY of DR. There are possibilities.

again i congradulate danilo medina in his victory and hope that he is true to his word as a uniter of people and all partys and doesn't run this country like the man before him,(a dictator.this victory is nothing to be overly celebrate.51% isn't a victory.its telling u ur country is divided straight down the middle.and a country divided is no good for anybody.the people truly have spoken but not for one man or one party, with 49% of the country voting for the prd, prcs, and other partys the country voted for change.less corruption and more efficency.the people are fustrated.most of the people that voted for the pld voted for the lest of 2 evils, and most the people who voted for the prd voted for a change of the dictatorship.,not for hipo. its ashame.the fact is 90% of the country is tired of the corruption and nosnsense of the present government and that is factual.danilo stand ur ground 2 day and set out 2 be the president of unity.live true to u word.this country needs that now.

Bet you any even money that the PRD splits in different factions, as MVM is going nowhere, more so after sorry spectacles like the above, are machinated by HM against him.
To blame MVM for the loss, is the worse case of being in denial. The PRD only has to blame but itself for the poor selection of their candidate, trying to recycle a burn out, fat, stupid and inept two time loser, with a verbal incontinence problem.

Well it did not help that he was not around to support the president elect , this selfish bag of vile instead showed contempt instead of showing respect to hippolito . I would want to kill him also if i was in the party .

I totally agree with Dread, really Hipolito the only choice please. I believe if the PRD would have chosen another leader perhaps vargas or whoever i believe their could have made the election more interesting. Hipolito not feed to be a president, the PRD follower made the wrong choice and it cost then.

By the way, what's up Dread? Long time don't hear from you.
