Santo Domingo.- President and vice president elect Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeño were congratulated Tuesday by the governments of Spain, Haiti, Colombia and China for their win in Sunday’s elections that also included Overseas deputies.
In separated missives sent to the Foreign Relations Ministry, Spain’s president Mariano Rajoy, Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, Colombia Foreign Relations minster Maria Ángela Holguín and the Government of Taiwan congratulated them as well as the Dominican people for the civism during the electoral process.
Spain Foreign Relations minister Jose Manuel Garcia hailed the citizens’ “exemplary” participation in the voting, adding that the president Rajoy will call Medina by phone to congratulate him for being chosen Dominican Republic’s new President.

@ ohhhvictor - Yes you're right. MANY congratulations go to the RD voters. Obviously the vote was close, and so this indicates that everyone has their ear to the ground, and know what they want from their leaders. Such a close result means that they're watching, and the elected parties know it. So let's raise a glass to them all, and look forward to continued progress and peace. But, while we look to the horizon, let us be keenly aware of the oars in the water.
