Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) fired a colonel and two lieutenants who were caught protecting a ring of alleged narcotics traffickers of San Pedro and La Romana. It didn’t specify if charges would be filed.
In a press conference the DNCD said the officers were caught with their guns and wearing their uniforms near the San Rafael de Yuma coast, with members of the ring awaiting a shipment of cocaine.
Colonel Manuel Isaac Jose Polanco, first lieutenant Maximo Ramirez and second lieutenant Elvin Fulgencio Calderon were detained together with the ring’s alleged members identified as Carlos Eusebio Abreu, Juan Ramon Alberto Guerrero, Luis Manuel Polanco and Neiro Olivo Garcia.

Only in my banana republic would these clowns not be immediately locked up, indicted and tried....never mind their job, that's a given that's lost..... where is the administration calling for transparency and accountability? This has to start at the top....this has been a failure for the most part on this administration...woud love to see Medina go in a different direction and make this a central issue of his administration.

The graft goes all the way to the top. These guys are taking the fall for some of the politicos and military leaders who also get their share. Nothing operates in a vacuum. Two years ago I was stopped by a checkpoint on Ave de Las Americas near Avenida Winston Churchill. The officer requested a bribe from me or he was going to take me to the police station to inspect my papers. Since I had a flight to catch I paid him. I gave him the equivalent of $20 in pesos and told him that this bribe is going to cost him more that it will cost me. Since I am a retired law enforcement officer with contacts in the DR goverment, I called a liason officer that I knew who promptly investigated and transferred all the officers at the checkpoint to Dajabon, the Haitian frontier. That's what I call justice.

25 yrs. in prison?for crooked cop
Wednesday, May 09, 2012
A disgraced NYPD cop was sentenced to 25 years in prison for participating in violent robberies of drug dealers with crew members he outfitted with police gear.
Emmanuel Tavarez, 32, pleaded guilty to the charges last year but recently claimed that he was coerced into committing the crimes by his scary brother-in-law.
Brooklyn Federal Judge Sandra Townes ridiculed the cop's story as she administered a verbal whupping on Wednesday.
"You acted out of greed and not duress," Townes said with disgust.
Tavarez admitted he played a role in robberies in Long Island, Pennsylvania and a home invasion in Connecticut in which he held a woman and her young children at gunpoint with his service weapon. PLAYING COPS IN NEW YORK CITY IS NOT LIKE PLAYING COPS IN PUERTO PLATA IS IT?
