WASHINGTON.- The United States today denounced the alleged extrajudicial executions and other abuses by Dominican Republic authorities against suspects, according to the US State Department’s annual report on human rights for 2011.

The Report on Practices in Human Rights published today comes just hours after Amnesty International launched a similar condemnation of the country’s alleged human rights abuses.

The US stresses the country’s "manifest extrajudicial executions and mistreatments and other abuses against suspects," and notes the lack of respect for the State of Law.

Washington said violence and discrimination against women still persist, with domestic abuse, sexual assaults and femicides

Haitian-Dominicans

The report also notes "serious discrimination against Haitian immigrants and their descendents," especially with the alleged retroactivity of the new migratory laws

"The result is people without a State who’ve lived in the country since generations."

The U.S. also denounced "extended corruption, arbitrary arrests, the conditions in prisons and the harassment of human rights groups."

DR should slam the US for

1. Mistreatment of Mexicans in border states
2. Killing extrajudicial people in IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, Guantanamo, etc.
3. Abusing its citizens and favoring Wall Street

The point is, that uncle Sam is not worthy enough nor guiltless enough to pass judgement on us!

If you feel that way sir, you should move out of Brooklyn, New York in the United States of America and back to the Human Rights Paradise in the Dominican Republic.

How dare you insult the best beacon of freedom and opportunity the world has ever known?
Why didn’t you migrate to Mexico IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, or Guantanamo, Cuba if you feel so much for them?

I am sure that the worst terrorist incarcerated in Guantanamo gets treated better than any Haitian working “freely” in the Dominican Republic.

Here's some more to criticize:

El exalcalde de Cotuí y coordinador provincial de campaña del Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD), Bienvenido Lazala, fue mantenido arrodillado en pleno sol, junto a decenas de dirigentes de la organización, supuestamente por el general Juan Brown Pérez, de la Policía, durante la jornada electoral del pasado 20 de mayo.

When the US takes at least a million or so Haitians then they can proclaim their "morality" but meanwhile they should take care of their own issues .The US has deported thousands upon thousands of people and they are in their right but Haitians are our Mexicans multiplied by a thousand so they should not be hypocritical!

This is the typical dominican reaction. Go mad and say it is same shit somewere else. US has nothing to brag about and i quote "best beacon of freedom and opportunity the world has ever known?" makes me laugh like hell.

But what is the point. The US statement is TRUE. Grow up and do somthing about it instead of your usually denial.

ScandiViking,

We aren't denying the truthfulness or not of the statement, but the moral quality (or lack thereof) of the ones making it. Have you heard about the tale of the jackass teasing the rabbit about ears?

Lautaro,
-and your point was? Have u heard about killing the messenger and give a damn about the message. That is how you guys always react, which means the "game are allowed to continue".
Have a nice continuation.

Lautaro I am quoting you: moral quality (or lack thereof)

Well, there might be lack of moral quality most places on the planet - but if there were a record of which country with the most lack of moral in the Guiness book of records I believe u would have gone all the way to the top. That is why your country is in the state it is. And by the way this has nothing to do with Haiti or haitians.

My point is that, the day in which they don't have people like the ones at Arizona wanting to deport illegal inmigrants left and right, then that will be the day in which they will have the moral to come and point fingers at us. Besides, another point that should move them to keep silent about this is the fact that they, along with France, are the main culprits of the Haitian fiasco, while we are the ones forced to pay for a party in which we didn't participate. Is it now clear to you, or should I draw a picture to you?

I usually don’t support government monitoring of US residents or naturalized citizens but given the anti-Americanism of individuals on this site, especially those the United States has taken in, I think we should make an exception. Reading these comments has really opened my eyes to the possibility of a 5th column by these closeted Dominican nationalist living in our midst.

I will write to my two US senators tomorrow and the congressional delegation of my state to present them the anti-American comments made by people we have given the privilege to live amongst us. I will ask them to inquire with INS and Homeland Security to see what can be done to call these people in for a review of their status in the United States and the possibility of revoking their residency cards or the naturalized citizenship, since they are so unhappy here.

That would be useful if I were living in US soil or was a citizen there, but as I'm neither one or the other, I suggest you to not waste your time regarding this (as pertaining me of course). Besides, it isn't as if any of the things I'm saying weren't the truth. Just make an investigation as to Haiti's foreign debt, beginning with the payments they were forced to make to France, and ending with the ones the US itself ended up taking in their stead, which ended in the year 1947, but not after accomplishing their goal of putting that country on its knees.

Just for the record I am not a dominican. Tell your fellow americans also to shut their mouth when moving to other places, because they are very good at complaining while at it.

The question of whether racism against Haitians exists in DR depends on the definition of racism. The term racism must be restricted to beliefs that a given biological race is superior, then ethnocentrism a tendency to view other cultures from the perspective of one's own can be found in the DR, but not racism.

ScandiViking,

You said ....."That is why your country is in the state it is..." Do mean to tell me that if someone accuses your country of alleged human rights abuses you'll simply accept it? No questions asked? You will simply agree and take it as constructive criticism with questioning possible motives??

The say that dominicans discriminate haitians rights ? but in america cops have been shooting , killing , and sometimes torturing , african americans for decades now . As they say, the truth hurts.
to be Haitians in this country is very hard, the dominican is the people hate the haitians and they want to keep in the heart the hate about the HAITIANS . Most often, there are 10 DOMINICANS against ONE HAITIAN.
they are cowards. Often they behead the Haitians, they have recently killed and raped a young Haitian who came to these studies.
As the days pass more this is a hell for the Haitians to live in this racist country.
Amnesty hurts you because you do not want to hear the truth from abroad.
