Santo Domingo.- Opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas has opted to keep mum on mounting calls for him to step down, in the heels of Sunday’s election lost by its ex presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía.

Some deputies and leaders have requested Vargas’ expulsion for alleged “high treason,” though reminiscent of the party’s pitched inner battles which splintered it prior to the polls in 1986 and 1990.

After meeting with supporters Friday Mejía immediately went to Congress to speak with the deputies of his faction, and said he would assume the opposition’s leadership.

Vargas, who has yet to respond on the new internal crisis, met with PRD deputies and with other close collaborators yesterday, when he instructed Santiago deputy Giovanny Tejada to respond to the allegations against him.

Both Mejía and Vargas competed for the presidential candidacy in the convention of March last year, but their relations deteriorated to the point that they never met during the race and now struggle to gain control of the party.

MVM behave like a gentleman.. Hipoburro like a burro..

One of them was polite, the other one was irrational.,.. Vargas almost gave mejia a PRD with 60% of voters, and Mejia did very well screwing all his chances.

There was not "high treason", only a reasonable desire of not following the clownish behavior

PRD lost because of Mejia.. And they deserve it!

Just think, you expect some dissent among the party members about how a campaign was organized and administered after a defeat. Yet, the last few days indicates there is a schism in the works.

You have to wonder with all this ill will simmering under the poker face the PRD presented during the election campaign you ask what would be the face the party would show to the public should their candidate have won? I fear the chaos we are being introduced to at this time would have been a hinderance to the party organizing a transition team and taking governance of the country should they have won. The cancer consuming the party would consume the government. We are now seeing in hindsight and the present the country has been favored with a better election result.

In the light of the PRD defeat, and its 3 horrible administrations, I just have one thing to say to the newly elected presindent: do the best job anybody ever done for our country, and the PLD will be in power for many years to come.

Hipólito Mejía. stabbed Vargas in the back when behind him and run for president. The president of the party should represent the party in the election not some looser. I think if Vargas had been given the opportunity to be president it might been different.

The cold hard Facts are HELL!

This is why they are fighting!

Presidential election 2012

Rafael Toribio: "the PRD was the winning party in the last election"

"The PRD had the Government against it, a great candidate, Danilo Medina, that is a great fighter... its own candidate losing votes due to his verbal incontinence, and a an internal situation that affected him, and despite all this, the PRD is the winning party"

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-The Director General of the Center of Governance and Social Management (Ceges) of Intec, Rafael Toribio, understands that the new Government of Danilo Medina must take into account that 50 percent of voters did not choose its proposal, so it is a factor to consider for governance.

"The PLD flow of votes has declined, while still being in power, and having gone from being a games of tables to a crowded party". "The triumph of the PLD, on this occasion, as in the previous (2008) must be accredited to theirthe allies".

He explained that if you analyze the electoral map that resulted from voting on Sunday, it can be seen that the PRD won in 28 provinces and that in 25 of these provinces the PRD won with more than 40 percent of the votes cast. "We are in the presence of a large party that was able to have this vote against a terrible onslaught from the Government.”

PRD as a party won 28 of 32 provinces, that is something that you find out when you dig in detail the numbers of this election, that is something that the PLD should not ignore and reflects exactly what i said, people is sick and Tired of PLD, when you ANALYZE the numbers that becomes evident.

PRD got A LOT more votes than PLD, and the victory of Danilo was because the Santo Domingo Province and the Distrito's vote difference, that is where the difference (200,000 votes) was and also reflects something else i have written here, Santo Domingo is NOT the Dominican Republic, you CAN NOT invest twice the education Budget FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY on a single project that serves a MICRO PORTION of the Santo Domingo Population and expect the other 6.5 millions that DON"T CARE and DON'T HAVE any benefits from that like myself just to bend over an take it as they use MY money.

The Purge has Begun!

San Francisco PRD expels three leaders for high treason

San Francisco De Macoris, Dominican Republic. - The Municipal Committee of San Francisco de Macoris unanimously ratified the decision of its municipal Political Commission of the Dominican Revolutionary Party City of expulsion, for high treason, the deputy Virgilio Gonzalez Manuel (Manny), ex-deputy Josephine Marte, and the Vice president of the municipal committee, Jose Sanchez.

The announcement was made Sunday by PRD’s Provincial General Secretary Jorge Pena, who said once again Duarte province gives the example in the PRD by starting to expelling traitors and "trash" that carried out a policy that was devoted to handing out money to members of PRD sending them to vote for a candidate other than their party’s candidate.

Pena said last Friday municipal Political Committee began the process of evaluation, heard testimony and made the unanimous decision to expel the three white party leaders. They did, he said, taking into account Article 35 of the statutes of the PRD, where disciplinary action is determined.

Jorge Peña explained that the letter G of Article 35 determines the sanctions against members of the PRD who in an election have been dedicated to promoting candidates different from the PRD.
He said that the data held by the PRD are many, and the Political Commission met and so determined to expel Virgilio Manuel Gonzalez, the current deputy, who worked with money received to pay PRD voters to defray their vote for candidate Danilo Medina through the ballot number 3, for the Social Christian Reformist Party.

In the case of Vice Mayor Jose Sanchez, said Jorge Pena, a member of the Municipal Committee and his wife Josephine Marte, the were devoted to paying money to motivate PRD voters to vote for the PLD candidate Danilo Medina through the ballot for the “Block Institutional Social Democratic Party” (BIS).

The secretary general of the PRD in San Francisco said that Sanchez and Marte received about 20 million pesos and surely some of that money was distributed to make the PRD's presidential candidate, Hipolito Mejia lose. "Sanchez was bankrupt and had many economic problems, but apparently he has resolved them" said Jorge Peña, who said Jose Sanchez is a close friend of Julio Cesar Valentin, through whom he worked to engineer the defeat of Hipólito Mejía.

"What they dis is high treason to the party and cannot be tolerated. Today (Sunday) the Municipal Committee met with more than 85% of its membership, and unanimously ratified the expulsion of the three leaders of the PRD. The meeting of the Municipal Committee was headed by its president, Siquió Ng de la Rosa, and myself as secretary general, "said Jorge Pena Acento.com.do. The meeting also attended Luis Ernesto Camilo, who is one of the most prestigious leaders of the PRD in the region and who led the campaign for Mejia in the Northeast.

On the reaction of the expelled

Jorge Peña said he was unaware the reaction of the expelled leaders of the PRD, Virgilio Manuel Gonzalez, Jose and Josefina Sanchez Marte, but acknowledged that "they are of the idea to challenging the decision which is final and unappealable."

He clarified that the PRD is convinced that these treasonous actions in the PRD where led by Miguel Vargas Maldonado. "They want to challenge the healthy part of the PRD," he said in a telephone interview.

"Obviously they suffer widespread rejection of 98% of the PRD of San Francisco de Macoris. They have gone into hiding; they can’t allow themselves to be seen, because there are many comrades who could even come up to attack them. They must understand that no longer is there room in the party for them, and in this regard it was the PRD in San Francisco de Macoris, which has led the way to expel the traitors, the trash is still in the PRD.
