Santo Domingo.- Merchants consulted in the capital markets yesterday disagree with denunciations from various sectors of organized commerce that staple products cost more after the May 20 elections, although prices did vary from one establishment to another.

The leaders of retailers’ associations met with National Consumer Agency (ProConsumidor) director Altagracia Paulino Friday, to relay complaints from the population that after May 20 some staples had significant increases in the prices.

But to make matters worse many sectors rebuked Paulino’s suggestion to “denounce” the hikes, instead of investigating to determine possible violations of the Consumer Protection Law.

The only thing that has actually going up is the price for Brahama Light Jumbo that went from 60 to 80 pesos but I don't see anybody complaining about that. Those Brahama had to be teach a lesson and it is that peope should go on strike and do not buy beer for a leas one month so that they can bring the prices down to what used to be when they purchased Presidente beer company. I and like 7 other of my friends are already doing it. So please help us all in this novel cost for the respect of the hard working man that only wants a decent beer to drink at a lower price. Please pass these words around and you will be helping the dominican people.

Yeah just what Dominican people need, lower priced beer so they can afford to buy more and drink more.

Possibly a better way is for the government to dispense DRUGS FOR FREE to the people.

it sux when the company that is keeping the monopoly and it's prices honest buys the monopoly and starts screwing us the same way Cerveceria did for many years.......it should have been Miller SAB or Heineken that bought Ceveceria so there would be competition Not Imbev/Ambev to create another stranglehold on an important industry ?...another case of supply and demand .......They have the supply and an can demand what they want
