Santo Domingo.- The spokesman for presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía of Dominican Republic’s major opposition PRD party, affirmed Wednesday that he will not take part in the debate proposed by the network CNN en Español with his opponent Danilo Medina of the ruling party PLD for May 10.
Héctor Guzmán said Mejia’s agenda is full until the May 20 elections to take part in the debate, and that the candidate had also informed it to the young business leaders grouped in the ANJE.
He said several international networks have requested interviews with Mejía, “and if he accepts one he must accept them all” since it would be thoughtless for the country and the local media, which have also sought them with the opposition candidate.

It was obvious from the beginning there was going to be no debate. The debate was the debate about the proposed debate, just to keep their names in front of the media. The whole matter is a political circus. P T Barnum alleged to have said, " I don't care what the newspapers say about me as long as they spell my name right."

Although I would love to see a debate to watch “Mumbles Medina” stumble all over his words, historically the guy that's losing like Medina is the one that is always depurate to debate.
Lie-onel always refused to debate since he was ahead, therefore this might also be a little payback!

Hipolito backed out. No way he could have taken on Medina's very realistic and logical proposals to better our nation.
I had a chance to see both in separate occasions, being interviewed by one of the TV channels. What was said made a world of difference to me and confirmed my affirmations that Hipolito is a dunce and Medina has solid proposals for fighting corruption and prudent strategy to further strengthen our economic status.
I will vote for Medina.

I also will vote for Danilo Medina clearly the better choice!!! However I have a question is Hipólito Mejía a PLD plant???? Seriously I think he is runnig a non serious campaign, I almost think he is working for L.F........I mean the things he says and does makes you think he is trying to loose on purpose. Its not that far of to believe that he is a PLD plant because we already he know he took money from them in the primary to beat Miguel Vargas.. I mean when he was in office he never put L.F in JAIL for corruption.... I think he is there to take a dive on purpose because the fact is him and L.F are friends and it wouldn't supprise me if he is doing this just for a PAY CHECK

PANEL
Responses analyzed in TV and Danilo Mejía
Hipolito Mejia

Santo Domingo
Former President Hipolito Mejia has less knowledge than the PLD candidate Danilo Medina, was the conclusion last night a group of experts who analyzed the appearances of both candidates to meet with the Corripio Communications Group.
The panel of Leovigildo Baez, sociologist, Daniel Pou, political scientist, Fior Solis, a psychiatrist, and Eladio Hernandez, president of the Dominican School of Psychology, which was broadcast on network television, themed the "Challenge of a country" examined the responses of the two major presidential asirantes areas such as tourism, electricity, 4% of GDP to Eucación and other topics.
It also concluded that Mejia has a focused element to the emotional, to engage in the questions, while Medina is more rational, more focused on solutions from the state to the problems to be faced with public policy.

Par for the course for Mejia. Remember his performance in a UN function with Fidel Castro?
Mejia is representative of a bygone Era in politics. Hopefully his defeat will remove from consideration other like candidates in the future. The nation is moving ahead with its modernization and hopefully those seeking the highest office will see that more than some "emotional" consideration is needed to move forward the State and Nation.

What a cop out was given be these clowns. Most of us knew that there would be no debate. It's obvious to anyone that knows something of him that Hipolito is not ready for prime time nor will he ever be ready. My dead dog could beat Hipolito in a debate of ideas.

Miguel Vargas is probably the only one that could tops Hipoburro when it come to corruption. Miguel "cara de perro" Maldonado got more scheletons than hippoburro and that is hard to beat. It is widely known that Maldonado got more richer than Hipoburro during the PRD' reigns 2000-04. Not to count the Marvellas where he destroyed that company and at one point Spain asks for his extradiction.
When Maldonado reported only 93 Millions Peso just before 2000, by 2003 was building an 800 Millions Pesos Villa. Heck Hipoburro on Univision only admitted to having 3 Millions DOLLARS even though he reported less than a Million Dollar before he became president. So Hipoburro is the more honest crook between them.

How can i vote for Hipolito this guy is a clown and a disgrace to DR. he also made fun of Obama that alone is going to cost him the election. I dont like the PLD, they are also corrupt, but that is the culture of all politicians in dr. I believe that the PRD would had a better change if they would have chosen Vargas, but i'm just saying.
