Santo Domingo. - Spanish singer Julio Iglesias appeared before Higüey Judicial District Instruction judge Juan Carlos Morales for more than one hour on Tuesday, but no details were provided on the surprising development.

Morales declined comment on the reasons for the closed door meeting with the famous singer, who’s one of the investors of the resort Group Puntacana.

Iglesias, who arrived flanked by two bodyguards and a driver, drew the attention of employees and visitors, reportedly went to court on a breach of contract lawsuit for a concert in Europe, filed by the promoters in Miami.

Why would a DR court have have any jurisdiction in this lawsuit for a concert in Europe whose complaint was filed in Miami?

Anyone out there that knows the court system well, if you could shed some light, please do.

Thanks

@ lovingit:

Could it be that they cannot go after him directly, so they intend to go after his financial interests and hope other investors pressure him to settle? That's the only thing I can think of - and at best - it's just a far flung guess.

I hope he stays mum. I'm not a fan of his singing.

I was wondering the same thing, lovingit,
My guess is it had nothing to do with a European concert and everything to do with some Puntacana shonky business, probably related to tax evasion.

It's more likely Julio is suing PC for non payment of the royalties he contracted for in order to use his name as an "investor", or they paid him in stock and it turned out to be worth less than he contracted for.

Do you really think these guys actually put up their own money when AIs, themeparks and whatnots call them "investors"? Trump neither.
