Santo Domingo.- National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) president Rolando Rosado doesn’t discard that sectors linked to drug trafficking are behind the effort to prevent amending the Penal Procedural Code to establish harsher penalties against narcotics traffickers.

He called the Code an obstacle which the authorities must deal with in the war on drugs and said there’re people whom at first backed the proposed amendment but today reject it.

Rosado spoke after a Wednesday morning mass to mark the DNCD’s 24th anniversary, accompanied by representatives of the Armed Forces, the National Police and the U.S. Drugs enforcement Administration, DEA, and other law enforcement agencies.

They have had 8 Narco-Years in Power, during the last two they have controlled both the executive and legislative branches of government and they haven’t even increased the penalties for Jay-Walking!

Comments on the PLD purple mafia always make me laugh.....is that inaopposite to the PRD mafia bruta? I'm a true independent but inchoosing betwen these two idiot parties I have to go with the PLD, they atleast leave something behind for the country; what did the PRD do under Hippo besides open the military fully to the cartels and wreck the economy? As far as the penal code, thats not the problem...the real problem is the inadequate allocation of funds and training to fully develop and implement the code properly. The system half works in the US because of the $$ invested and the personnel training to implement the law....
