Santo Domingo.- Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario and the director of the civic movement Citizen Participation (PC) Francisco Alvarez  announced an agreement Thursday, capping a weeklong standoff over the latter’s proposed observers for the May 20 election.

They said schedules were also extended so PC’s members who’ve yet to obtain accreditations can do so even on Saturday and Sunday.

Alvarez said PC wouldn’t oppose the JCE’s verification of the data regarding the observers his organization recommended, some of which were rejected for allegedly having criminal records.

He said he hopes the fluidity which characterized the more than two hour meeting continues during and after the electoral process.

El Dia newspaper Editor in chief Rafael Molina Morillo and Senior editor José P. Monegro mediated the gathering.

Pressure from around the world??????? Has anyone seen the slightest mention abou this election in the international press ??I think that the world has far more pressing problems than to be concerned about a break in the deadlock of the electoral board of a small caribbean country that remains relatively peaceful despite the agitations of some on the fringe

josean,

Take your meds already, it's too soon for all your non-sense. LOL

And remember to stay true to that diet of yours since there's going to be a lot of Hippo Mangu on the schedule for you and your pals to eat after the elections are over. LOL

Some on the fringe?? like a mayor opening fire in public, a president linked to drug traffickers, allegation about cabinet member amassing wealth though suspicious contract, high profile politicians owing huge amounts for unpaid bills. on and on that list would go...
Hardly "fringe" and hardly "some"....
They do care what happens here, as they have to try and stop the huge amounts of cocaine that pass though here to the US and Europe...
They have to try and protect their countrymen when investing OS and their tourist when going anywhere...
Even if it's not covered in the media...No matter how small, they do have an interest in what happens here...

stllhere,

They contradict themselves saying the WORLD is coming here to invest and Lie-onel's International Shopping Sprees have done wonders for investments and putting the DR on the World Map.

However, when it comes to illegality let’s keep that our LOCAL SECRET!

It’s the METROLANDIA mentality of Vincho, Little Rickey, Euclides Gutierrez and the totally confused Atabey!

To use 50% of Ms. Vickey's vocabulary they are DELUSIONAL!

Are you implying that Carlos Slim is a Narco?

See the difference between you and me is that I don’t produce statements from my rectum!

I know that you have been trained by Lie-onel Fernandez and the Narco PLD to lie and believe only in lies but there are still a few of us Dominicans left for which TRUTH still MATTERS!

“Hipólito meets in Mexico with Carlos Slim and other entrepreneurs”

“SANTO DOMINGO.-The President Hipólito Mejía met with major Mexican businessmen interested in investing in different fields of business in the country, during his trip last week to Mexico, to participate in the agro-food fair of Sinaloa.”

“In his short trip he met, among others, Mr Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world and the most important Mexican investor in Dominican Republic, owner of the phone company Claro.”
