Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s major political parties yesterday urged their rank and file to halt the acts of violence in the electoral campaign, in the heels of one week of incidents which left one dead and several people injured.
The political organizations rebuked the aggressions which have marred the rallies and motorcades including president Leonel Fernandez’s, the opposition PRD party candidate Hipólito Mejía, and the first lady Margarita Cedeño, candidate to the vice presidency of the ruling PLD party.
“Aggressions have never been in the PLD agenda which always has been of great respect for the citizenship, we believe in the debate of ideas,” the PLD said in statement.
For Mejía, the possibility that any sector can unleash acts of violence in the electoral campaign should be rebuked, and called on his supporters and citizens in general to not participate in any of those violent acts.
The latest fatality of the violence was a member of the pro-government PRSC party in Gaspar Hernandez, in northern Espaillat Province.

And the Dominican people will reject the ECONOMIC VIOLENCE the PLD has perpetrated against them for 8 looong years on May 20 by throwing them the hell out!
Especially the Violence committed against their Children’s EDUCATION by stealing the mandated 4% to build useless METROS!
They, the politicos, can talk all the non violent bs they want. However, we well know there will be injury and death across party lines due to political fanatics reacting to high levels of political testosterone rather than appeals to behave.
