SANTO DOMINGO.- A faction  of the senior leaders of Dominican Republic’s opposition party grouped in (CEN) yesterday unanimously upheld Miguel Vargas’ suspension as the organization’s president, and tapped Andres Bautista instead.

The measures come despite the ruling by the Superior Tribunal Court that the CEN meeting had to be suspended.

The CEN faction headed by ex president Hipolito Mejia, with 2,006 members, or 60 percent, also confirmed the suspension of Vargas’ close supporters July Mariñez and Anibal Garcia and the expulsion other leaders of the faction for allegedly violating party statutes, including the deputy Victor Gomez Casanova, Khalil Michel, Annie Felipe, among others.

Mejia said the PRD’s commitment to society is to fight for freedom. "And that’s not negotiated with anyone. So if someone wants to do that, they’ll have us to deal with."

They should all just meet up at high noon and recreate the dominican version of the O.K Corral. We would be better off without these sub human animals.

PRD wants their way like a minor child with a temper tantrum, and by recurring to violence as a method to solve their problems. The PRD goes to court, the TSE, which makes the only decision they could: provisional measures to deal with the issues of the case, but as soon as the verdict was issued, they disqualified them, including raw personal insults to the judges.
The PRD lost the election and did not challenge the results of even a single poll. Their lawsuit today therefore is not about the election results, what they want is to provoke a national crisis.
This internal dispute had several outlets, but in choosing the legal options, they submitted to the electoral court. If not the TSE, who arbiters the PRD to judge their problems? Also, how the PRD aspires to be the leader of the opposition, if they do not acknowledge the system's institutions, starting with the elected government? How can they be the guarantor of the aspirations of the people if you can not play by the rules?

It really is a wonderful time for the decent people in the PRD to split away and create a party based in good principles
