Bonao, Dominican Republic.- Elected deputy Abroad Levis Suriel can’t hide his shame but distance himself from the drug trafficking and money laundering charges lodged against his son and daughter, and asked that justice be served.

In a news conference Suriel read a document and declined journalists’ questions, and asked the court to determine his offspring’s guilt or innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.

He said his daughter Janney and his son Levi Jamil, charged with money laundering and drug trafficking, haven’t lived with him for more than 24 years.

The lawmakers, accompanied by supportive friends and relatives, affirmed that the case against his offspring is a bitter pill to swallow. "If today I’m a disappointed father, I will not disappoint my family."

Wow. All of you seem to know the intimate details of this man's life. I guess it wasn't possible that it was the woman that left him. Nor I guess is it possible that if he did leave his family that he had good reason to such as infedilty..But I guess you all have crystal balls that make you all omnipresent and all knowing. While you guys are in the give and take mood..can I have tonight's new york lottery numbers? Never mind that the man has PUBLICLY called for justice to be done in this case and distanced himself from these criminals who are unfortunately the product of his loins, totally at odds with how other Dominican political honchos have acted when their offsprings have found themselves in hot water. He's behaving like a man by showing face and asking that the chips fall where they may.

He could have been the typical parent and said NOT TRUE! IT CAN'T BE MYYYY KIDS. THEY WOULD NEVER DO THAT.

Give the guy credit due since we don't know his auto biography, at least I don't know it.

Of course he hasn't had anything to do with them in a long time the typical Dominican makes the baby and before it is even born has moved on to another woman. Most ever pay little to nothing to raise their children and the justice system of course does nothing about it.

VeronicaDR,
I suppose he is just thye common dominican who never paid a dime to support his offsprings. Hell they needed to get money from somewere so as good dominicans they went on the right track.

Of all the hundreds of children I have taught in this country ,,without any previous teaching experience , none has had a father living at home and as I have had some experience as a father, I can definitely say that they all need one around at various times so I feel sad for these offenders in what is a very common situation .
I can also say that the girls here are often desperate to have a baby no matter what may be the economic and social repurcussions and there is a good supply of boys to assist them in this
