Santo Domingo.- The National Drug Control Department (DCND) has prevented two packets of cocaine weighing 2.26kgs from being sent to the Netherlands. The drugs were hidden inside a computer, announced the anti-narcotic agency yesterday.

The computer, which was being sent to the Dutch city of Utrecht, was discovered in the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) cargo area when employees and DNCD agents were conducting a routine inspection, said the agency. “This is a method used by international narco-traffickers to take drugs out of the country in more than 50 cases detected recently,” stated DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón.

Lebron praised IMPOSDOM employees for their cooperation and said the packages had been sent for forensic testing. So far no one has been arrested in connection with the case.
