Port-au-Prince.- Dominican Republic’s National Police lauded its Haiti par to mark its 17th anniversary and bestowed a special recognition on the local Police Academy, during a ceremony in the Haitian capital.

Haiti President Michel Martelly headed the activity accompanied Haiti Police chief Mario Andresol, and Dominican par Jose Polanco, who stressed the progress reached by the neighbouring country’s agents.

The official, who represented the Dominican President and Government, also noted the cooperation between the two nations, which in his view has led to major blows against organized crime. "On behalf of president Leonel Fernandez we congratulate Haiti’s Police for the progress made in these 17 years, despite the difficult situations facing the Haitian people."

Peer. Peer as in equal person, not par as in equal number. If the editors or reporters use Google Translate or Babelfish they still need to go back and edit. Peer is still a poor choice, anyway. Counterpart is the more accurate English word.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic- Metals thieves do not respect or fear anything or anyone. The Pantheon of the Armed Forces was pillaged by unknowns that carried with a statue and a bronze cross, both objects with a weight of half a ton (thousand pounds).

Thieves stole the brackets and the letters carved in bronze of the monument at the National Cemetery, located in at Máximo Gómez Avenue, where also recently the Pantheon of the National police was sacked.

The gigantic statue of more than 3 meters high was designed and built at the beginning of the 40s, and was considered a valuable artwork for the armed forces.

In addition, thieves took off with several pieces of marble and iron which gave support to the military statue.

The Ministry of the armed forces could not specify the date in when the historical monument was dismantled, which reportedly had a discreet surveillance by the military.

Maybe the Monument was Stolen on May 20th; the same day the Armed Forces and the Police were busy assisting the Narco-PLD in Stealing the ELECTION!
