Similar tragedy: The rental truck in which nearly 20 undocumented Haitians died several years ago.

Santo Domingo.- Vice president Rafael Alburquerque Wednesday said it’s not government policy to withdraw from multilateral agreements and that the Immigration director’ suggestion that the country denounce the Inter-American Human Rights Court (IACHR) is his personal opinion.

Referring to José Ricardo Taveras’ position on a current human rights case against the country, Alburquerque said when a State signs an international agreement it cedes part of its sovereignty and then has to abide by its rules.

He said multilateral and bilateral agreements have rules set by international law and the only way to repeal them is by agreement between the parties which signed it.

On Tuesday Taveras said the Human Rights Court judge oversteps its jurisdiction on issues of sovereignty, such as nationality or immigration, suggesting that the country withdraw from the hemispheric treaty.

The flap stems from the lawsuit filed against the Dominican Government in that Court, which alleges that the death of nine Haitians traveling in a truck in Guayubín (northwest) in 2000 was a “massacre,” though the Government affirms that it was the driver’s fault for failing to halt at a military checkpoint.

I DON'T CARE under whose administration it happen, if the law was broken, even if it was by my Sons, they should be tried and if convicted made to pay whatever the consequences are!

I do not practice political expedient moral relativism like you and the other Purple Clapping Seals!

PLEASE let's put the facts STRAIGHT here, there was no massacre here, a massacre is when you bomb, stab, poison, or execute on any manner several people, the REALITY of what happened to that truck was that the guys driving it IGNORED stop signs and orders from the army becasue they had a load of illegal haitians, the soldiers opened fire against the tires and they lost control of the speeding truck having an accident, THERE WERE NOT DEATHS BY SHOOTING!! the soldiers did not execute people as they didn't know WHAT the truck load was!!

The Inter-American Human Rights Court (IACHR) HAS NOTHING TO DO with the UN its part of the Organization of American States (OAS)!

wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter-American_Court_of_Human_Rights

The same OAS you PURPLE CLAPPING SEALS were applauding after they “certified” the PLD having Stolen the Election on May 20th!

This maybe the way of saving face in front of world opinion in case somebody spills the beans on the THEFT!

The DR shouldn't be part of any organization that takes a piece of our sovereignty. We should respect ourselves and not allow our country to be under any kind of foreign dominance.

Honestly, Israel does as it wishes with the Palestinians. The USA builds huge walls and internment camps for it's illegals, Brazil unilaterally shuts it's borders to illegals. We should simply certify these ppl as illegals, picture them, tag them and ship them off. A per day fine of 1,000 pesos applies. The day you try to travel and or marry and or use any public service. SURPRISE, SURPRISE! :)
