of course its peaceful, every male 18 and older is armed with a military rifle. Isn't it mandatory for you to enlist in the service and once you have completed 4yrs you take home your service weapon and considered an active military personnel till a certain age. Why wouldn't it be peaceful ? Who would want to commit a crime in a neighborhood that is legally armed by the government.

Iceland has a population of only 318,000 and the DR has a population of 9.4 million, over a million haitians. Also the DR is a more open society than Iceland, open to all the crap the world has to offer. The DR used to be very peaceful too. RobertoJose: no, military service is not mandatory in the DR but I wish it was. And Spinach, I agree with deporting all illegal dominicans in foreign lands. We should also deport all illegal foreigners in our land, mainly haitians if we want to.

The DR has lost a lot over the years, mainly its balls.

The word peace must have a different meaning than what know. The D.R. has not attacked any other country in a long time. The US on the other hand has fought with half the world and has a better ranking. US does not even know the word peace if their not fighting they do it secretly by causing problems all over the world.
