Santo Domingo.- The beleaguered CEO of the State-owned power utility (CDEEE) on Monday affirmed having saved taxpayers RD$101.9 billion (US$3.9 billion) during the past three years, which in his view shows efficiency during his tenure.

Celso Marranzini told members of a joint commission that the subsidy requested for the electricity sector will directly benefit consumers and that as never before, hydropower has boosted energy service and the economy, over power generation. "Far from being a destabilizing factor for the economy, for the first time the electricity sector has been part of the economic equilibrium."

Marranzini, who met with the Congressional commission which studies the supplementary budget and a US$500.0 million subsidy, added that it’s the first time that the CDEEE has been depoliticized.

Just weeks after he took over, the power at my house has been 70% better.
So he has done a better job than his predecessor, but could do much more to clean up the system and force those who don't of haven't payed to pay and prosecute those that are are stealing power.

Reading Josean´s comments, at least most or too many of them, shows he is a great candidate for the BS award himself. Maybe even the top candidate.....
Maranzini is and has been, doing a helluva good job! Any idea of what kind of obstacles he has to fight?

You're too kind!

I will reciprocate by nominating you for the PURPLE KOOL-AID Drinking Award, I warn you though you have some extensive and stiff competition here at DT!

How is Celso "Beleaguered "?

He is the ONLY one in 12 years that has NOT used the electrical sector for a get rich quick scheme.

Segura should be in jail for his transparent nepotism and incompetency.

If the DR lets him be replaced you all should be ashamed.

Celso has done a great job, considering the many obstacles that he faced, and the many future thieves salivating for the job, that are trying to question his solid and transparent administration.
In DR we are used to complaining a lot, and that weakness has haunted us for generations.
Also like or not, Danilo may fire him, and maybe replace him with even a more dedicated technocrat.
