Santo Domingo.- The Dominican ambassador in Paraguay was called to consultation on Sunday, following the impeachment of that nation’s president Fernando Lugo, and comes just two days after president Leonel Fernandez called the ouster "illegal and undemocratic."

Ambassador Marino Berigüete said he’ll arrive in the country tomorrow and render a report on the situation in the South American nation. “The Foreign Relations Ministry has called us for consultation for such purpose I’m about to travel to the Dominican Republic in the next few hours to provide any pertinent information."

Quoted by phone by listin.com.do, the diplomat said Fernandez also called on the foreign ministers of the Organization of American States (OAS) to submit a collective action aimed at restoring Lugo in the presidency.

The ouster has been widely rebuked in Latin America, and could augur a prolonged period of turmoil in Paraguay.

The President who was ousted by congress said that the law permitted the impeachment ,,and there has been no real proof given that the impeachment was not legal ..so really it seems that it is the socialistic latin leaders who are crying foul without reason .I am quite happy that LF will not be President for much longer and who cares if the ambassadors are recalled.

The reason I said that is that I feel confident that Danilo will do a better job ..I give credit to LF for many things but his time is up and I am looking forward to a man with different priorities..we are now entering a totally different phase in the development of the country ,

I honestly think Ricardolito is right..

I think Leonel did a LOT of GREAT things, and we will miss him for SURE...But at the same time, Danilo will do an outstanding job as a President of D.R...

He is simply THE BEST secretary of state we ever had in national palace.. and he will continue his job as a President..

Thanks PLD !

So the eyes and ears for Leonel made a politically bad call in Asuncion, as did the OAS rep.
Guess they are out of the loop. Leonel simply wants to know why. I've BEEN
to Paraguay, and this doesn't surprise me. It's a totally rogue state, There are
all kinds of tigueres from the Middle East there, and from all over the world.
It's for sale, totally for sale. That's what this all about. Local politicians looking for the
highest bidders. The DR doesn't have the capital to bid. Not even close.
The jewels, cars , drugs that move between Brasil, Paraguay and Argentina is a
Zona Franca gone absolutely wild. Has been that way for as long as I can remember.
Think Hnduras, just further away from the motherland.
I'll bet 95% of the world population couldn't find Paraguay on any map.
Admit it, you had to look yourselves, didn't you.
If not, congratulations.!
