Santo Domingo.- Senator Tommy Galan on Monday said he wouldn’t vote for the bill which includes the US$500 million bond for the electricity subsidy, but acknowledged that the piece will be passed because "no pay, no power."

He said the State electricity utility CDEEE’s problem isn’t just e subsidy, but also because in his view the structural and inefficiency problems continue. He said what the government has to do is prepare to negotiate in favorable terms because under the current system many people benefit and want to continue doing so.

The senator for San Cristobal said despite that the CDEEE’s program for 2012 didn’t include any subsidy, US$500 million are already in the supplementary budget, added to US$275 million more in the current budget, and doesn’t rule out any eventually which could arise during the rest of the year.

Galan spoke after a meeting of the Congressional commission which studied the supplementary budget with a US$500 million bond for the CDEEE, whose CEO Celso Marranzini also participated.

In Santiago if you don't pay the bill they shut you off.Start doing the same everywhere on the island and maybe some money will be collected. Plenty of government officials think they should not have to pay.

In other Supplementary Budget News:

PLD again relegated EDUCATION to the Back of the Bus or should I say the USELESS METRO!

The Coalition for a Decent Education says: "supplementary budget shows education is not a priority for the Government"

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic- The Coalition for a Decent Education reported Monday that the supplementary budget, recently submitted by the Executive to the legislative chambers, proves once again that pre-university education is not a Government priority, since the Ministry of education was not taken into account for larger budgets.

It is surprising that is this supplementary budget proposal almost all major ministries and State institutions will receive extra funding, except the Ministry of education." "The Office of the Presidency and the Ministry of Public Works alone will be more than 50% of the 51 billion pesos form this budget supplement, demonstrating what the real priorities of this administration", the coalition said in a statement.

It also recalled that during the 2011 the funding assigned to the Ministry of education was increased by RD$ 4,300 million through a supplementary budget, but the transfer of these funds by the Government never came into effect. Non-delivery of those funds, which were approved by the National Congress, generated the claim from various sectors of the society demanding an explanation of the fate of those resources from the Ministry of Finance.

Thank you Mr. Rancier I appreciate your kudos but even more I appreciate your SINCERE advice.

The issue is that we are a country with a 10,088,598 as per the C.I.A. World Fact Book (July 2011 est.). Of that number, the manipulating JCE, presided over by the distrusted Robert Rosario, claims there are over 6.000,000 registered voters.

In the last “questionable” election on May 20 the Narco-PLD in alliances BOUGHT WITH Tax-payers monies WITH EVERY POSSIBLE Tom, Dick and Harry microscopic ”political party” just got a little over 2million votes. That means that over 4 MILLION Dominicans for whatever reason did not support the MASTERS OF CORRUPTION A.K.A. the PLD. If you add to that another million, more or less, that are not register to vote the number might hit 5 MILIION.

Meaning that PLD is a minority party (on its own it only got 33% of the votes casted) with only minority support 2 million plus in a country of 10,088,598. Their support is a manufactured spectacle by using the Public Resources via the use of tax pesos to buy the majority of the media and use of the forces of repression to intimidate the rest into submission.

So with all due respect Mr. Rancicer and I have MULTIPLE TONS OF IT FOR YOU, how can I help it not being political in one of the Darkest Periods our beloved country is facing since May 30, 1961!

josean:

You are correct on all counts but neither you nor I are going to fix the unfixable. It is a corrupt country and we have to face the facts . I don't vote there becuse neither party show me much.

You know who puts them in power ! It is not the locals but the interested power to be, in order to
stabilize the country so we don't get another revolt as we did back then..

Josean with all your capability If i was you i would not waste it on people that don't reason. As they
say "you can take a horse to water but you can not make him drink it" and that is the case of DR.

They don't seem to understand that EDUCATION is as important as the METRO.That a country w/o
ELECTRIC power has no future. That a country needs HEALTH just as much as EDUCATION. Am not asking the gvt to invest in any type of industry, because that is not their job,but nor is their job to invest so much money in subcidies .
