International Organization for Migration lauds the Government

GENEVA.- International Organization for Migration deputy director Laura Thompson lauded the Dominican Government for implementing the Regulations of the General Immigration Law, a milestone measure which has spurred controversy in the Caribbean nation which shares the island Hispaniola with Haiti.

Thompson met with Dominican Vice president Rafael Alburquerque in Switzerland, where she offered programs which benefit the country in that area, specifically on Border Security as a way to establish controls at the island’s maritime and land borders.

The official congratulated the Dominican Government and the people for the prompt support and solidarity shown with the Haitian people in the heels of the quake which leveled Port-au-Prince on January 2010.
