Santo Domingo.- Ex president Hipolito Mejia will file charges of slander against Peravia province senator Wilton Guerrero in the Supreme Court 10am Thursday, a case which has expanded beyond the realm of politics.
The lawsuit stems from Guerrero’s assertion that Mejia had traveled to Sinaloa, Mexico aboard a plane piloted by the personal pilot of drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo” Guzman, to allegedly raise funds for his campaign leading to the May 20 election.
It’s the second slander lawsuit against Guerrero, the first filed by Gen. Hilario Gonzalez, accused by the lawmaker of having links with drug trafficking in the Peravia city Bani, but the Supreme Court declined the case.
Mejia had admitted visiting Sinaloa in February, allegedly invited to a farm fair.
Despite that most news outlets published the allegation, newspaper El Caribe is the only one charged in the suit.
Guerrero also had reported on April 23 this year that members of international drug traffickers linked to Mejia’s campaign (PPH) had plotted to murder the prominent journalist Nuria Piera, in an effort to upend ruling PLD party candidate Danilo Medina’s presidential candidacy.

Guerrero should be able to counter sue these fools and have their assets forfeited back to the country for all the drugs and corruption they have been involved with over the years. Mejia is obviously a corrupt drug dealing scumbag who should be hung on national television for treason against the country.

The manipulation of the medias has been played very well in DR. Since all the commends voice here are against Hipolito. That he was invited to a farm fair and goes to Sinaloa and then decide that he will not rather attend the fair that's his business. The fact that it was just prior to an election made it a smoking gun for the press to developed it into something else without any prove. Hipolito shall take it to court and the court should accepted it so that the accuser can have the opportunity to present their prove. Anyone who is so sure about his activities and involvement with drug traffickers will have the same opportunity when and if it goes to court. If the court does not accept the defender it will demonstrate its incompetent and will further indicate that there are no grounds for the accusations, while not wanting to award the damage done to Hipolito. The court will favor the PLD and its officials by not accepting.

I wonder if he still call pelafustan to the president of the Supreme Corte of Justice when he see him personally..

Let me bring LIGHT to your statement as you are not very familiar with Domincan constitution...the FACTAS are that anybody who wants to SUE a SENATOR or ANY elected official, repeat ELECTED, has to adress to the supreme court and that is a SINGLE court decision, you can not appeal, so on this case if Mejia wants to sue, he is following the right procedure, the Senator will have to PROVE that he was actually with el chapo, legally i strongly doubt that senator can produce such a proof
