Santo Domingo.- Ruling party senator Wilton Guerrero on Friday reiterated his assertion that ex president Hipolito Mejia has supporters “linked” to drug cartels, and announced he prepares a defense on the slander charges the ex chief executive filed Thursday.
“I challenge Mejia, as a responsible senator, to explain to the country about the mysterious trip because of its interest to Dominican Republic, and the infiltration of people linked to drugs including Ezequiel Rodriguez Cruz, and the hired killer Julio Céspedes Martínez of the Sinaloa cartel in Santiago, who headed support groups for his candidacy,” the lawmaker said in reference to the suspect -also known as El Indio- in the execution of four South Americans, killed by agents in La Vega.
“And above all, we should remember that this ruthless assassin headed a support group for Hipolito Mejía’s candidacy in the city of Santiago, the so called the Movimiento Comunitario de Apoyo a Papá,” he said.
Guerrero said when he first questioned Mejia’s trip to Sinaloa, the then candidate “kept totally silent before those facts,”
He said even though he has yet to be subpoenaed, he’s preparing his defense with witnesses including the DEA agents involved in the case, Drugs Control Agency director Rolando Rosado, and Presidency Antinarcotics adviser Marino Vinicio Castillo,” who publicly confirmed the information.”
“Mejia now wants to pass off as a serious man with honor but he isn’t serious and if he has honor it's in his foot,” he said, adding that including the newspaper El Caribe in the lawsuit “is a petty move on Mejia’s part.

There is something that I dont understand:
To get to Sinaloa you need;
1.- a plane that take you to a third country to connect, them Mexico city, them Sinaloa.. ( at least 2 days flying) because it was a VERY important Farm Fair 3 month before election.. ( must be special vegetables! )
2.- when he gets there to Sinaloa , he them dont care to go to the Farm Fair? Can anybody explain me the logic of it because I honestly dont understand Hipo arguments ?
I know something for sure..1.-Hipo has NEVER answer question about narco figures around him, 2.-He's always afraid of Vincho ( specially Vincho interrogation! ) He will avoid any more political claim..Just another smoke curtain from Hipolito.. :)

The news paper only published what the senator said in his office and there for should not be charge of any complicity on this case because they did not create it the story, the senator and vincho castillo did. I remember that back in 2004 or 2005 Mejia sue Vincho and the charges were dismissed

I find the Mexican government has been silent on this whole matter. You would think when a country (Mexico) is hosting an foreign national, an ex president, they would have something to say about his trip and his activities within their country.
I also suggest Hipolito Mejia has a compulsion to open his mouth and insert foot. He draws attention to himself when he lashes out at those who allegedly slander him because it causes the public to investigate the purported slanderer but also himself. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
He, Mejia, and the country would be better off if he retires to Jarabacoa.

At election time the opposing side will take anything out of context in order to influence more voters to change side. In this case the Mexican government as well as the American government are silent cause they know these are allegations that they have no record of. Right after election Hipolito was invited not only as a guess but also as speaker on an Agricultural Summit. One should then look at the side of dirty politics, pick someone and link him or her either directly or indirectly to the candidate, then have the press near by to pick up on it. In this case there are no photos of Hipolito while in Mexico with anyone, who greeted him at the airport, at the hotel, who drive for him, and so on. The U.S. will had been the first to pick on this cause they know exactly where all the cartels in mexico are found and who are its main players. If Hipolito is into drug trafficking and they claim evidence to that then why not arrest him like they do to those other trafficker.
