Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s fledgling gay movement on Sunday committed a gaffe which sparked a wave of criticism in the media, and even prompted a brief scuffle among parade organizers and Police agents sent to the scene.

The participants in the Gay Pride Parade walked along the Santo Domingo Port Av. waving a Dominican flag, but with the internationally movement’s rainbow colors superimposed

The movement’s action violates the Constitution, which states that the design of the nation’s flags is unalterable.

It is great to be an activist but do not forget to follow the law otherwise whatever the cause will lose respect and be overshadowed with negativity by the media.

Looks much more interesting than the real flag and I am sure no offence was intended ,,why can not police agents just go slowly at things and win friends instead of making enemies

The gay movement can actually be a good thing for the DR!
It will demonstrate, albeit superficially, that we're much more tolerant of the alternative life style than the current perception.
This means that many more of the international gay community can feel safer in touring our ZC gay bars and secluded beaches. It will also mean more queer behaviour and subsequent outrage by the unenlightened religious fanatics, hypocritical church leaders, moronic "macho" men, and the neo-Nazis....To those, I say, screw yourselves!

The bottom line here is, though, that we can attract that many more people to our shores, and make many more bucks! Brilliant, eh?

Hey guys.. you hurt the feelings of the queer Joseano!

It certainly doesn't take much to bring out the gutter-crawling, ignorant hatreds that you boys need to survive.
