DT readers caution that at the exit of Samana highway, coming from the capital, policemen arrest foreigners.

Although everything is in order, papers, insurance, belt, they find an excuse to ask for money. If not, they tell you to go with them to the police station in order to proceed with alleged checks.

Most of the people pay to avoid wasting their time.

Thanks to the readers who gave us this information.

Please spread the word in order for the authorities to stop this blackmail.

These Po-lice are playing with fire. Let's get the names, ranks and other pertaining ID's of these bloodsucking parasites and demand that they'd be prosecuted to the full extend of the law!!!

Hopefully, Medina will be informed and fire/jail these Sons of britches!

This happens all over the country. In Sosua a few weeks ago police searched my van looking for me to pay them off. I let them look and laughed at them until they stopped. Sometimes going from Cabrera to Sosua I get stopped at 2 and 3 roadblocks looking for money. One time the police said to me "you know Christmas is comiing soon" another time said "I am hungry" and another time "I am thirsty".

You think this is just Samana? If you get stopped and asked if you have a gun. You show them the gun and the license and they say "What if I can't read the number off the gun and we have to go to the station".

You are dealing with complete scum. They take pride in their being thiefs and have no shame. One time I asked the cop if he wanted me to call the General who was head of PN in the country. These people have NO SHAME and this is the only thing that are forthcoming about is their THIEVERY.

The police in DR are used to extorting money from foreign drivers I had two incidents in the capital one night I was stopped by the AMET due to not having my seat belt on they gave me a speech about safety and that I will have to go with them to the police station, since it was at night and I was tired, I gave them 300 pesos and they went away.

Two days later I was once again stopped around 3:00 pm in the same area and was given the same speech I then told them that I will go with them to the police station and will be happy to share my prior experience with their superiors, they automatically started to tell me it was for my safety and to make sure I knew where I was going, needless to say five minutes later they were wishing me a safe trip.
