Santo Domingo.- Salami sales have plunged in the capital and merchants fear the worst.
Street vendors who make a living from selling fried food yesterday joined the growing demand by consumers, and wholesalers and grocery stores Consumer Protection Agency (Pro Customer) name names in the scandal over fecal coliform in that product, "to not sell it or eat it."
Elcaribe.com.do reports that several fried sausage vendors and wholesalers said sales of the lesser known salami brands was almost nil.
The major processors however affirm that demand hasn’t fallen, but consumption of eggs and cheese has replaced that of salami.

Give the public the names of the dubious meat packers to protect the names of responsible suppliers.
From: Dominican Republic
There are 2 issues here.
1) Were the samples of the product taken from the manufacturer location?
2) Were the samples taken of the product at the consumer level or the distributor?
If the samples were taken at the manufacturing level then there is a serious problem at the factory with fecal matter introduced during the slaughter process by not clearing the gut from the meat.
After all I have seen in the DR and with fraud a way of life I would boycott all processed meat products until the sources are revealed.
to bad for the manufacturers and distributors but this is what Josean would be justified in calling the results of the purple ineptness.

a blanket accusation of all makers destroys the good name of those who follow food safety guidelines while those who simply don't care can continue to do business as usual

I have to agree with Foresthill on this one.....those are the salient points.....when and where....and then of course, who....
Here in the States, the large meat packing houses have the USDA meat inspectors on-site every hour the plant is open.....but they are paid, in part, by the plants themselves....so they sort of have to police themselves....it's a mess....let's face it......

Of course, if they sell the salami as it comes out of the animal, it WILL be full of shit.

97% no sirven, no names needed, all are not good!
15% with churria bacteria
51% nitrito de sodio y 12% levaruda: Leading to the C word
Now, when they tell you a 97% are not good, do you really need to know specific names?
Round 97% to 100%, and that would be ALL of THEM.
Conclusion: DON'T EAT SALAMI!
Men, you guys sound like PPHachistas..... same salami all over again day after day...

I don't and never have eaten salami, wherever it's from.
Meat by-products can't be good for you, period. Chorizo, sausage, pepperoni, all one and the same.
Recycled schnitt.

@hellborn25,
What makes you think they didn't have shit before?
Look at how fast certain government officials come out with guns blazing, think they're doing it out of virtue?
