PUERTO PLATA. - Dominican fisherman aboard the boat JUANA VI have rescued 15 Cubans in recent weeks after their rafts went adrift in the Atlantic Ocean, from where the first group had planned to reach Miami.
In the most recent case six Cubans arrived at the local port Tuesday aboard the fishing boat SHEYLA, whose crew rescued the boat people suffering from dehydration.
The Cubans Joseph Alexis Rodriguez, Rafael Garcia, Ernesto Garcia, Eirán Israel Suarez, Jose Rafael Lazo, and Julio Cesar Peña were rescued Wednesday the 11th at 22 degrees North latitude, 76 degrees west longitude.
The Cuban boat told elnuevodiario.com.do they were headed to Florida illegally, setting a course from eastern Holguin province on July 2, aboard a raft which went adrift when its engine failed.

I did not know rafts suffer from engine failures, in fact i really did not know rafts had engines in the first place. I guess these rafts are only made and unique to Cuba.

If only those Cuban's rescued knew that Raul Castro is willing to meet and discuss issues with the idea of mending relations with the U.S.
Looks like a step in the right direction for the Cuban people.
As I mentioned before and is worth repeating "ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME WANTS AND NEEDS".

Cuba does have a more advanced healthcare/medical system than DR but we don't really know for sure if they're sick or if they're child molesters.

Let's keep the Cubans..............we have extremely long and strong historical, cultural and political ties. Besides it will counter balance the illegal migrations from Haiti, where we have little to no ties what so ever.

Early this month I was in Dabajon and every Haitian I had the pleasure to meet and talk to all agreed "Where's the billions pledged to re-build Haiti after the quake".
In talking to Dominican's living near by all agreed illegal immigration must stop, the very limited resources in the DR are being used up.
No one would benefit more then us Dominicans should the Haitian people get their act together, after all we do share the same Island.

"You deny that Dominicans have black blood in them" How typical, the Haitian troll pulls out the race card. I stopped reading after that.

SPiNACH,
Nah, you're pulling the race card again. Haiti had Indians, but your ancestors either exiled or killed anyone with White and/or Indian ancestry during your slave rebellion. If not that, then they were already extinct by the time Saint-Domingue came to existence.
