Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government today announced a plan to prevent and eradicate gender violence, whose spiraling increases recent years has triggered alarms among society.

The program’ early stage focuses on workers of industrial free zones and includes efforts against sexual offenses, harassment and promoting a culture of prevention.

The information from the Justice Ministry says the program aims to promote a healthy society free of violence, with a range of activities including the spread of information and implementation of a training project.

As part of the plan, the agencies involved will provide appropriate assistance and support in cases of women victims and of domestic violence, for the workers and the companies of export free zones which request it.

In addition, the plan provides human resources and coordinated logistics for training in conjunction with the free zone companies.

good innitiative, it would greatly help if women didnt encourage men to cheat and would def help if they wouldnt dress in a way that makes men break off their marriage, so both sides are to blame. the only way this problem would be eradicated is if more money is spent on education, gender violence becomes a serious crime and is prosecuted, and when this country becomes a second or third wolrd country, i noticed the more money a person has the more educated they become, and the less likely they are to mess around with other women

@Isantiago-I don't know if we are talking about the same country, but I have noticed something totally different. The more money and power the more women he can attract and greater the tempation to cheat. But you know what this is not only true for the DR but everywhere around the world

But let's accept reality, men were not made to be monogomous. Don't believe me-You don't have to, just read history. It was not until recently, but men throughout time were allowed to have multiple partners and society condone it. Everybody understood, accepted and it worked out just find until somebody came up with the bright idea of single partner relationships and screwed things up for everybody

To understand what is happening it is a result of a new paradigm the cause and effects of a country in transition. Dominican men were not use to the new women rights and females cheating as equals and men are simply reacting to the change. They have to adapt to the castration of men in today's world

i understand ur point guillermone but its mainly seen on the ones that are poor and then have money, they are as corrupt as any possible human being can be, from what i have seen from personal exp is that the ones that come from money are less likely to behave like the ones that dont have money and then get money.

alot of countries still allow men to have as many women as they can afford to have, which i think is wrong, as man was made to be with one woman and only 1, but here in the DR since the mojority of people come from poor family they grow up without education and since the people around them dont have a proper education they follow suite and then give women the same treatment they saw people where they grew up give women.

Says lsantiago77,

"i noticed the more money a person has the more educated they become, and the less likely they are to mess around with other women"

So what happened to Nelson Rockefeller who literally dies in the sack with a secretary or Gary Heart and Bill Clinton and John Edwards?

now now you both are bringing cases and blaming everybody for them, its like how blacks and hispanics are blamed for all the crime in the states because the ones on the news are most of the time black or hispanic, which if you think logically you very well know that not all hispanics and blacks, the thing with rich people is that they get 100 times more attention when they do something wrong

The present Dominican macho mentality does not allow for women to exersise their right as human beings. Conversely, today's culture, condones a man's savage behaviour to the detriment of women and their children.

It's doubtful grown men will learn to change the prevailing attitude as "the king of the castle", and "do as I say, not as I do", mentality. This is too deeply ingrained in the culture and won't budge, regardless of how much an "implementation of a training project", is provided.

The only way to deal with femicides is to instil fear in perpertrators of this horrific act of abuse. How? by enacting an automatic death sentence, to the murderous beasts.

Trying to reason and appealing to their sense of just and fairness, won't work. These are feral animals and can't understand..... Fear, however, is universally understood. No fuss, no muss. Problem solved.

Amazing why people want to concentrate on this ,,,The homicide rate in the DR has been around the 31 per 100,000 for quite a few years which with a poulation here of 10 million gives gives a figure of about 3,100 . According to most published figures femicide in the DR is now at just under 3 per 100 ,000 ..
Women have a far less chance of a violent death than men .and in fact the main problem that women have had in recent years is that men have decided that women who have been raped or have a problem pregnancy can not have an abortion ,,this in the constitution ...I would be protesting about that first because no man should dictate to a women whether she has to carry an unwanted pregnancy ,,that is primitive

There is no femicide problem in the DR
There is no homicide problem in the DR

for its size and stage if development, DR is relatively crime free. You want so see crime go and check out Jamaica, Belize, Venezuela, Trinidad.

STOP THE MADNESS. There appears to be a concerted effort (by outside forced) to try and socially engineer in the DR the same madness that now infects the US as regards male and female relations.
Women are being indoctrinated that some how men are their enemy. And certain idiot men are buying this crap about Femicide.

Recognize the game being played on you by fascists, feminists, homosexuals, social engineers, and those who stand to profit from social disintegration (i.e.big banks, corps, government). Dont let it happen.

Iseantiago,

You are ignorant. You dont understand female/male relations.

The more money people have, the easier it is for them to break social taboos, they are just able to hide it better due to having discretionary income, typically better education, and concerns about reputation.

Men with money cheat far more than poor men - WHY ? because their money attracts women - politicians, pro athletes, music stars, actors, rich businessmen , and professionals.

Women with money cheat far more than poor women. WHY ?because typically their survival is not dependent upon the graces of a man. Free from such restrictions and with time and disposable income she is free to "hacer fiesta" so to speak with:

-the pool boy, cable guy, milk man, guy at work, her boss, best friend's husband, personal trainer, etc.

You delusional if you think somehow wealthier are more moral in their behavior than poor - NOT TRUE at all. Reality tends to be the oppos

Mannyberrios,

Is there anything that can be done before DR is destroyed by the Social Engineers and their "USEFUL IDIOT" minions and CORRUPT hangers on ???

Do not let creeping feminazism and big government fascism destroy your country like what is happening in the US.

there is no doubt in my mind that this crap is being funded by the World Bank and IMF - being forced unto the DR as part of the "loan packages and structural adjustment".

The politicians are not only selling the country out financially, they are doing so culturally and morally as well.

stay tuned to hear more about: 'Violencia contra la mujer" and need for more big government and taxes to solve it and:
- "so called Gay Rights ...".as if anybody in the DR gives a rats ass about who sleeps with whom and when....
